1. I would say run at least 4 or 5 times a week for long distances. If you are really out of shape, start at 2 miles and work your way up depending on how old you are. On one or two of those days, get out on of those ladders and speed train and do sprints instead of running miles. I play full year round soccer and I have been running over the summer like that and I am the most in shape person on the field out of mmy age group and 2 other age groups. If you have trouble running at home because you are to busy or something i would suggest running track and croos country if you are in middle school or high school.

 2. to get in shape it's good to be running 4 times a week. alternate between sets of short sprints one day and jogging a few miles the next. this gives you quickness and endurance. also, be juggling with the soccer ball daily. it helps you get used to controlling the ball with all parts of your body. lifting weights a couple of times a week also helps increase muscle strength which is a big plus. and if you can get involved in any type of pick-up soccer games that would be great. because to get better, you really need to be playing the game as much as possible.
