  1. I was homeschooled through 10th grade, and I then enrolled in a public school. I enjoyed homeschooling quite a bit while my siblings still lived at home. After they graduated and moved out, it got boring, which is why I transfered to public school.

I'm all for homeschooling, I think you should go for it, you just might enjoy it more that public school. The one thing I would miss is being involved in sports. There are lots of homeschooling groups around that you could get involved in. And they would undoubtedly be a better group that the people at your high school.

I hope it goes well for you.

  2. In brief, just be sure that you are enrolled in extra-curricular activities, classes, and sports whether its with homeschool kids/groups or with a local church or community center. Being homeschooled really isn't terrible if you aren't alone ALL the time. Thats where it can be kinda depressing. There are lots of opportunities for these activities...BELIEVE ME! I was VERY involved in all of these things. It was a great experience. Maybe you'll like it too! Good luck!

  3. I say go for it kiddo!  It is good enough for royal families I think it should be good enough for you and me and all of the rest of us!  The princes and princesses are tutored at home that is nothing more than homeschooling.  I mean think about it Sandra Day O'Connor was homeschooled!  Albert Einstien was another and several other prominent and not so prominent geniuses of our day!  There are a lot of us out here who say go for it kiddo get a real education at home then go to college get your degree and make a difference in this world with your real education.  Stop waisting your time in that place that practices nothing more than crowd control!  Get real education at home!  Stop worrying about what those around you think.  Homeschooling can teach you how to think and show you what is worth worrying about.  Good luck and I for one am proud you are taking charge of your life and destiny.

  4. I think you should definitely go for it. I am also home schooled and in my freshman year. Alot of the time in school time is wasted through who knows what, with homeschooling no time is wasted. lets say 4 hours of homeschooling is like a couple days of real school. Yeah scary. Also my personal fav. of being home schooled is that you can get up late or early(It doesn't matter), take breaks, sit on the couch while reading about the french revolution. It can get lonely sometimes but who wants to spend their time with *** wipes in a terrible school. Hope this helps :)

  5. Home schooling is as exciting or as boring as you choose to make it.

  6. Some people who answered here obviously didn´t get it - you can watch TV because you have to learn less and stuff like that - are you serious...?

You´ve spent 10 years in a regular school, if you feel the way you do and your school doesn´t offer what you feel you need, I´d say go ahead. I still think regular school attendance is a great, great plus for all the obvious reasons and usually, I´d recommend you stay at your school - but if you are as uncomfortable with the situation, it´s up to you.

Thing is, there is a reason why teachers study at universities to get a teaching degree. You can sort of "teach yourself" quite a bit, but not the same stuff you could learn in a school resp. by tutoring from a professional. Same goes for your parents here... so what are you going to do? Have a look around, get your parents involved and if you really want to go for it, look out for a professional private tutor or distance courses with individual assistance.

Make sure that whoever you get as a teacher/instructor knows what he/she´s doing, that´s really the main point. If you lateron want to study at a public university (or apply for any kind of job), the safest thing is to sit public exams. You can do that even if you were homeschooled, but that means the curricula has to match what will come up in the exams, so get somebody professional - I can only repeat that.

Homeschooling might sound like a great option to many kids - you seem to have a reason why you´re considering it, but don´t waste time or risk career opportunities by seeing homeschooling as an easy way out - or a way to watch TV while you´re doing work... duh.

    Good luck with everything. =)

  7. With the Internet and pod casts and video clips, you have a whole new dimension of ways to be presented information that you should take advantage of.  Perhaps you should also learn how to repair a computer, if many of the things you lean will depend on it. I expect your college admissions people ahead would find that a unique and laudable skill that separated you from many others. I'd also look in on many of the 5 to 25 minute lectures  on TED.com .I don't think there's a wider horizon of things presented well than that.

  8. I used to be homeschooled but only for like a month.  At first it seemed like the most awesome thing ever because I was really fed up with school also and things like that.  But after a while.  Homeschool started to seem boring.  I wasn't doing much but lay around the house.  I didn't have friends or any good stuff that this world has to offer.  I ended up getting back in school and everyone was glad to see me back.  And I ended up graduating highschool :D.  Have fun in homeschool.

  9. home schooling is great you will love it and no more c**p from school it is fun and exciting if you have the right program mine is k12.com check it out  well good luck and come back to pugs and let me know how it worked out  dont worry it will be ok.

  10. If you're motivated and have good materials it works quite well.

  11. I am in 10th grade too, i did homeschool from 6th grade all the way to 8th grade and i liked it

  12. I heard that home schooled kids have less hours. You can also do your work while watching TV or listening to music if your parents will let you.

  13. I have been home-schooled ever sense the first grade.I don't feel like I am missing out on anything. You can still do sports at your school or certain classes. And don't believe it when people say that home-schoolers are socially inapt. That is all just a bunch of bull.I like home schooling and I plan to home school my kids when I grow up.I get my school done in about 4-5 hours give or take.I can still have allot of fun doing other things with my spare time.

  14. I never had home schooling, but it should be kind of good you will be one on one and at home were it's conformable, you don't have to worry about beaning curse out and call names, you can stop and eat or go to the bath room when you want to and best of all you don't have to study all day long. Good luck and God bless you

  15. Yes, I would highly recommend homeschooling if you're in a position like that. I have been homeschooled for a long time- the only reason why I went back to school is because I wasn't able to socialize as much as I'd like. However, if your situation is as bad as you make it out to be, the best way to go in my opinion is to be homeschooled and take advantage of all your spare time. It really is wonderful. You get to sleep in and work throughout the day in short bursts- that's how I did it, anyways. You can do a lot of things, such as swimming, during school hours where places like the pool are much less busy. Also, depending on the type of homeschooling that you choose to do, there's a lot more options for field trips and other group outings. You don't have any homework and you can spend lots of time with other homeschooled buddies. Not only that, but the learning environment is better because you're learning from your parents, who you (should) feel comfortable with. Because of this one-on-one connection, you have the advantage of a better education. There are some pretty major advantages to being homeschooled. Good luck! :)
