I just found out i am pregnant. I am so excited... i have been waiting for this for 6 months!. Anyways, i work in housecleaning ( about 5-6 hours a day )and my biggest concern is that i have to carry 19 lbs vacuum up and down the stairs and other stuff as well. And one of my houses has a cat . Should I be worried??? This is my first pregnancy. Thank you in advance!!

  1. As long as you feel up to it, you can do whatever physical labor you want. I couldn't do it, as I have been throwing up constantly the first 13 weeks.

  2. I'd been doing the same job and i quit only when I was 6 months. Same like you, I did let go  big houses and kept only small and easy ones. I'm due on September 20th and everything seems to be fine

  3. you should be right for a couple of months let your body tell you when you can no longer do the work and take time off then. as for the cat litter please please for the sake of your babies life do not go anywhere near them. have someone else sweep them up and change them as there is a disease called toxoplasmosis i believe that is potentially fatal to the baby . i think thats the right disease im not sure.

  4. You should be fine unless your doctor has said otherwise.  I think it is more than 25 lbs the doctors dont want you to lift.  My first pregnancy no one would let me lift anything but my second pregnancy I have a almost 3 year old that weighs 43 lbs you cant just not pick them up.  Nothing has happened to me yet.  So I would not be too concerned about the vacuum.  I dont know much about the cat issue because I have never had a cat.  If you have to clean up the mess around the box you might wear a mask while doing it and wash hands good after.  I would probably wear a mask if you are messing with strong house cleaners just because they may upset your stomach in the first trimester.  I could never stand the smell of cleaners when I was pregnant.  Dont kill yourself if you are tired rest!

  5. You can safely carry the vaccuum, unless your doctor determines a reason for you to stop lifting 19 lbs.  You should not change cat liter.  You should also not be in closed spaces with harsh chemicals.  If you can work around those stipulations, you should be fine.

On the other hand, if the job ever feels like it's becoming too strenuous for you, then you should listen to your body and make other work arrangements if possible.

  6. Yup, but do the light chores, don't get tired or exhausted, it might affect the baby inside. Don't carry heavy objects - exerting effort increases pressure in your abdomen/pelvic area (uterus included) and so affects the baby, difficult for him/her to hold on. You might have miscarriage on of these days if you continue this kind of practice.

  7. if you have been doing all the carrying, that shouldn't be a problem, but as you get bigger, it might become strenuous on you.  Or if you start having cramping or other problems, you might want to talk to your doctor.  Also stay away from the strong chemicals.  Wear gloves and a mask, dont' inhale alot of fumes.  As long as your not cleaning the cats liter pan, it should be ok, wear a mask when around the liter pain though.  Amnonia can be toxic.

  8. Of course you can . I'm 38 weeks and still cleaning my house and getting on my hands and knees cleaning floors . If I did not clean my house through out my pregnancy it would have been a wreck .

  9. It should be fine if you are not a high risk pregnancy. DO NOT change litter.

  10. JUST try to take care of your self if your lifting heavy stuff and your stomach starts to urt stop doing it, I hope this will help and congrats for your new baby:)

  11. its fine. during my 2nd 2 pregnancies, i had to lug around my 35-40 pound toddler, the doctor said it was fine! you dont have to worry about the cat, but do not go near the litter box. it contains bacteria that can be harmful to you and your baby. congratulations on getting pregnant, having a baby is the greatest miracle in the world! i wish the best for you!

  12. I wouldnt carry anything heavy honey, i worked in argos when was pregnant and others carried everything for me, it can damage your back, and may put a risk on your baby, as it strains your stomach muscles. talk to your midwife :)

Plus....DO NOT touch the cat waste, as it can carry toxins that can cause miscarriage!!!
