  1. High Fibre food list:

    Grains:

whole grain breads, buns, bagels, muffins

Bran Flakes, All Bran, bran Buds, Corn bran, whole wheat Shreddies, 100% Bran and Fiber 1

Cooked cereal such as Red River and Oat Bran

    whole-wheat pastas

whole grains such as barley, popcorn, corn and brown rice

    Fruits:

dried fruits such as apricots, dates, prunes and raisins

berries such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries

oranges, apple with skin, avocado, kiwi, mango and pear

    Vegetables:

broccoli, spinach, swiss chard, green peas and other dark green leafy vegetables

dried peas and beans such as kidney beans, lima beans, black-eyed beans, chick peas and lentils

    Nuts and Seeds:

nuts and seeds such as almonds, whole flaxseed and soynuts

    High Zinc Foods:

Zinc is very much associated with protein foods. Most foods high in zinc are protein-rich as well. The best sources of zinc include beef, lamb, pork, crabmeat, turkey, chicken, lobster, clams and salmon.

Good zinc food sources aside from meats are dairy products such as milk and cheese, yeast, peanuts, beans, and wholegrain cereals, brown rice, whole wheat bread, potato and yogurt. Of all these vegetarian zinc foods, pumpkin seeds offer one of the most concentrated non-meat food sources of zinc.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Here are some ideas:

    1.  Drink lots of fluid (2 quarts of water daily)

    2.  Incorporate fruit into your diet, including fresh plums and peaches

    3.  Increase natural fibres, such as fresh spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, romaine lettuce, baby lettuces, tomatos, cucumbers, bean sprouts, etc.

    4.  Decrease things that might be promoting constipation, such as cheese or milk based products.

    5.  Your hormones may be creating a change in your bowel habits so talk to your OBGYN about taking a supplement to help you go more regularly.

    6.  Watermelon and strawberries!

    Congrats on your pregnancy!

  3. asparagus and edamame both have a bunch of fiber.

you can blanch & chill asparagus and throw it in salad if you aren't keen on eatting it alone.  also try squeezing some lemon on asparagus when eatting it warm.

  4. Chickpeas are great with  4 ounces of meat, and corn bread and fried cabbage.  Raw veggies always worked for me.  Especially broccoli and cauliflower.  For less calories you can boil the cabbage.

  5. Buy your self a dried fig roll, and munch on that for a day or so.....

    Works well.

    Also, try stewed prunes.

  6. try some prune juice or licorace (or a bad curry lol)

  7. a big pan of sauteed onions will get you going

  8. i know that red raspberry tea is very healthy

  9. Prunes

  10. Chick peas are excellent with Chicken and rice.I also like them on salads.Any green vegetable is good for you especially Kale and Spinach. Both contain Zinc. Blueberries are the best fruit you can eat and Apples will help keep you regular.I would also eat Yogurt everyday for just that reason.Kale and Spinach are both great cooked or used in a salad..Congrats and good luck.

  11. you need to eat plums!

  12. prunes or licorice.

  13. Add whole grain foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, like unpared apples, peaches, raspberries, tangerines, broccoli, cabbage, Brussles sprouts, carrots, zucchini, beans, whole grain breads, and my favorite, oatmeal.

Since you want to add fresh vegetables to your diet, you might want to add the chick peas to your salads.  Or you could make hummus and spread it on whole wheat pita bread, crackers or the like.

As for zinc, fruits and vegetables are not a good source.  The levels of zinc are low and what zinc there is is less easily obtained and used by the body.  Higher levels of zinc are found in beef, pork, lamb, and the dark meat of the chicken.

  14. It is impossible to be constipated if you use olive oil in your diet. Coose Extra Virgin Olive Oiul, and for flavour I would go for Greek. Now use this loiberally on your salads, dip bread in the oil instead of spreading butter, and drink a spoon full every morning....or simply eat a little bread dipped in a bowl of oil. It is very good for you, you will never experience constipation or straining on the toilet and it will help build a beautiful baby. Once you use it you'll never go back!

  15. with chickpeas, try blending them with some herbs or spices to make a dip, or you can make a chickpea curry.

  16. Constipation is unfortunately part of pregnancy. I found eating porridge and muesli along with plenty of fresh fruit every day really helped. Drinking plenty of fluids is essential but if all else fails you will have to resort to laxatives from time to time.

  17. A quick fix against constipation is to eat a couple of large spoonsful of honey. Guaranteed to get things moving.

  18. Here is a link to foods high in fibre.  Unfortunately constipation is a common complaint with pregnancy especially if you are taking an iron supplement.  Try these foods and drink a lot of water and that should help.

  19. weetabix grapes oranges and drinking cranberry juice might help

  20. Hi unfortunatly I have just started with the consitpation and I am 38 weeks and it started from 36 weeks and the only thing that works for me is a glass or orange juice, I know they say fibre works like cerels rice and bread but for me these make me even more constipated. I know how you feel but the orange juice is the only answer for me, if you want to get the right about of protine and zinc etc then they do vitamins during pregnancy which may help.

  21. Liquorice
