  1. I'd ask around, or go online to your local Yellow Pages and look at the reviews on doctors and obgyns in your area. As for switching, yes-you can switch, as long as you're not ready to pop. I'm 7 months and just switched my obgyn and will be seeing her for the first time tommorrow. :) I'd ask some questions like: Do you believe in pregnant women taking medication while pregnant (you may need some if you develop bad morning sickness or something else)? Do you believe in taking pregnant women off work (in case you do get very sick and need a dr. slip)? I'm sure you can find a web page online with questions to ask. I wish I would have asked those questions, because then I'd have picked my new doctor as my first one and I'd never have had to switch! Good luck, I hope this helped! :)

  2. The thing that has worked best for me in selecting a doctor is to talk to everyone I know with kids and find out who they used.  They are all too willing to rat out the bad doctors and groups and speak highly of the doctors and groups who do a great job.  It was easy to get a good feel of what to expect by listening to their experiences.

But here are the things that I was looking for: can I tolerate the doctor's personality? Do I want to deal with this person for the next nine, ten months? Do I want this person actually delivering my baby?  Will this doctor be delivering my baby or is he/she just one possibility out of a group of doctors?  Will this doctor respect my wishes in prenatal care and in the delivery room or will he/she try to strong arm me/manipulate/guilt me into doing things his/her way? What is the doctor's philosophy on inducing? on natural child birth? on different ways of handling labor/delivery? What is the doctor's rate of c-sections/experience with high risk pregnancies and complications?  How does the rest of the staff treat me? Are the receptionists, nurses, lab techs, etc. respectful and pleasant or do they seem to have a chip on their shoulders or treat me like just another number?  Do they accept my insurance? Do they use the hospital I need?

I'm sure there are plenty of other criteria you could use to select a doctor, but these have helped me pick three really good doctors.  The two who didn't work out well were the ones where I ignored some of my own wishes for a doctor and settled for less.  I ended up switching both of those doctors, incidentally, which you should never be afraid to do, even halfway through a pregnancy.  Remember, this is the person who is taking care of your baby and your delivery.  You want to be completely comfortable with him/her.

  4. HI,

You can ask how are you Physically feeling in pregnant.

  5. did the doctor get you pregnant?

  6. Ask about their labor and delivery practices, what hospitals they work out of, you can ask about their experience if it makes you feel more comfortable. Thankfully my GYN is also an OB so I didn't have to find one. However if you are not happy feel free to change your doctor, my doctor always says me being comfortable is the most important thing.

  7. Ohh Wow I'm 4 Months and I didnt ask Questions and I got stuck with a Doctor that has alot of patients I'm Trying to Change to a Nother one Now I have a app with a diffrent Dr next Month so yes you can change Doctors..

  8. It is okay to change doctors.  Midwives are cool, have you thought them.

  9. Ask others in your area who have had children and see who they would recommend. Good luck!
