Okay so I have known about being pregnant since feb. I am now 27 weeks along i look chubbier than usual but everyone thinks it is stress from my situation. I just want to clear the air and get it out to my boss so that i can get my benefits. Anyways it is not that it isn't acceptable there i had both my children while working at the same place I dont have the same boss though. She has tried to be supportive with all the drama my ex has caused. I am afraid though of telling now will she wonder why i waited so long?? also i am a bit embarrased beacause it is my ex's and we were off again and on again when it happened and now we are total off. so is it wrong to blame it on being embarrased or how do i approach this?

  1. Be honest and tell her that you were embarrassed and going through a lot. Don't try to cover up or name a "reason" for not spilling your secret. Be honest and it'll speak more on the type of person you are...which is a good thing. You're going through a tough deal, so she'll understand. "Ask and you shall receive."

  2. I'd say most people already know. When you look at a woman who is pregnant you just know they are pregnant. Overweight looks different, ya know.

  3. You don't owe her or anyone else any long drawn-out explanation.  Simply say that you are expecting a new baby in a couple months and that you would like to discuss your maternity leave.  She probably will be well aware of why you delayed making an official announcement.

  4. You should tell your boss just so she will know not to have you lift heavy things, etc.  But one thing.. leave your personal life at home.  Nobody needs to know your marriage problems.  She doesn't need to ask any questions because literally, it's none of her business other than your due date and your plans of maternity leave.  Confide in close friends you can trust who do not work with you.  Worrying about being embarrassed should be the last thing on your mind.  You have a baby to worry about, so you shouldn't be getting all stressed out over something simple.  Good luck with the baby.  I hope you and your ex can be on good terms because you will be a part of each other's life forever now.
