  1. You should look at a drip system. They have new ones for lawns and you don't lose water that way. You have to install a filter. These are the way to go as you water the roots.

  2. my best recommendation is asking or hiring a professional, that stuff is so confusing and complicated.

  3. Get the pipe and springlers in frist, and don't forget to leave the sprinkler head up so tey will be level with the top of the sod mat not the grass.  Get the dirt where you are laying it smoothed and level then pick a line to follow and start unrolling or laying the pieces (depending on if it is rolled or the squares).  Some people will want the seems to not line up between ends, but it all grows togets anyway and doesn't matter much as long as you aren't out walkng and playing on it hard as it takes root.  Cut or rip the pieces around the spriknler heads so they can get up and remember to water it plenty as it gets rooted.

The biggest mistake people make is thinking becasue it is allready roots and grass is that it can just grow on its own, but sod only has a root system the depth of the mat.  It needs to root inot your soil to take hold well.

Tilling your slil to mix is not a big deal.  You do need to make sure you water it down before laying the sod.  If you make light fluffy soil level, then lay the sod, then water, the soil will compact down and may give your lawn a lumpy or wavy look.  Lveel then water and level again any low spots that have settled more than others.
