I brought a pig to fair last year and only contacted one buisness as a potential buyer. I lucked out and my pig was the grand champion heavy light weight (the 3rd best pig at fair out of over 200). My sister only contacted one person as a buyer as well and didnt get much money for her pig. I live in michigan. Who/What type of buisness should I go to, as potential buyers?

  1. Don't the buyers usually slaughter the animal after to sell as meat?

Can't you find a nice farm or something for him to live out his days? It is the lease you can do?

  2. This response will be removed, I'm sure, since it's not an answer...

but neither is that first one.

    Hey, Aleasha C

Don't Rant on 4-H on someone's question, jeeze.

  3. Business that cater to the farm crowd often budget a particular amount each year for fair.  The pictures and ribbons on their walls garner community support more than commercial advertising.  These include retail places like feed stores, tractor supplies, butcher shops and business people like farm bureau agents, well drillers, field tilers.

Some business that make money off kids consider fair spending as good PR.  My orthodontist always did this as did the trophy shop and the company that did the stitching on FFA jackets.

Some community organizations (churches, Rotary, Lions Club, etc) will plan a big cook out using a fair purchased animal.

4-H animal sales are a good way to raise college funds.

    Good luck!

  4. Boy, don't you just "love" Aleasha C. It seems like she picks one little subject out of the topic, googles it, and copies and pastes the first page she finds, which usually has no relevance to the topic at hand!

Sorry about my little rant. I just find it very bothersome. Unfortuantly, I know nothing about the subject. Sorry, can't halp you :(

BUT, isn't 4H about youths caring for and raising animals? If so, I would think you would want to avoid buyers that go to slaughter. Right?

  5. IDK but I live in Michigan too! What fair is it? Is  it the lowel fair?
