Question:

I am really thinking about giving up soda. Would it be better to take a caffeine pill?

I am addicted to the caffeine in Mountain Dew. I'd like to stop drinking soda altogether to cut calories, because it's not good for you, and to set a better example for my kids (we're having a battle right now because my husband's son is hooked on non caffeinated sodas and I don't want MY son getting hooked on them by his example).

Would I be better off taking a caffeine pill? Obviously, no caffeine would be best, but I'm addicted. What can I do to cut the soda out but not go through caffeine withdrawals? Please help.

  1. If I was you, I would mix caffeine pop with half caffeine free pop for awhile.  Then, slowly put less caffeine pop in.  I did that with coffee.  Now, I drink all caffeine free everything.  Once in awhile I will have some pop or coffee w/caffeine in it and it doesn't bother me.  Don't do the pills, cause thenyou will have to keep taking them.  Just slowly lighten up on the caffeine...

  2. Wean yourself off the stuff by having less and less each day until you feel ready to have days where you have none at all, then increase your "days off" until you are able to simply choose not to have any at all - thats the best course of action i feel.

    Good luck :)

  3. how about brewed iced tea??? its loaded with caffeine and is a natural antioxidant as well as a natural diuretic.
