I have one 15" type r running on a mrp m1000 alpine amp. The sub can hit 750 rms and i can power it. I have a jeep laredo so an open trunk. The jeep is a 2005 so its still solid tight. I want loud bass that i can feel in my hair but i want to be heard coming down the block. My friend has a jlw7 10" and i can hear him everyday leave school from class and he has asealed enclosure with it. But my other friend has two 12" duals in a ported and you can't hear **** form outside the car but its louder inside than the w7. Will sealed still be loud running 700rms, will my rear view mirror shake or what? Or should i go ported? I liek clean bass but im a rap music guy and i liek my bass to be loud as well and knock hard.

  1. Your Alpine Type "R" will best be suited for you in a ported enclosure if you're a rap music guy.  Keep in mind a W7 is a premium sub. (and comes with a premium price tag)  Look for a slot ported box ... those knock really hard with a Type R sub.  With that amp, I can assure you ... you'll have no problem being heard coming down the road.

  2. if you want mirror shaking bass, go big ported box...trust me

  3. there's a small sacrifice whichever you choose. a sealed enclosure won't hit as hard, but takes up less space. a ported enclosure hit's harder, but is considerably larger.

since you want more bass,( and assuming you don't need the cargo space) i'd recommend the ported box.

and as for your friend, keep in mind that some vehicles are more insulated then others. my 98 astro van with 2-1,200 watt sony xplod hooked up to a 1,200 watt competition class d amp sounds better then my friends bmw with 2-2,000 watt mtx jackhammers hooked up to a 1,000 watt rms jbl class d amp on the outside, but once you get in the ride, my friend's system blows mine away.
