I am receiving wierd error meaages on my computer. please help

every time i log on a message comes up saying windows has encountered a problem. what is it and what should i do.

If the screen is blank with just your wallpaper:

hit Ctrl+Alt+Del ,Click new task , and type explorer.exe

If its just a pop up just click ok/yes

If it says Windows did not shutdown properly just click yes
