I don't want to stay at the ski resorts since I'm already paying rent. I need info. about bus service from Santiago to Valle Nevado for skiing and returning on the same day. Where do you find the buses? Names of bus companies? Price info, can you pay in pesos? Any info.will be appreciated. Thanks

  1. Renting for the summer....which summer? Your summer or Chile's summer? Because summer in Chile starts in december and the ski season ends in October......

Anyway, my guess will be your summer in he US which menas Chile's winter. Yes, you can take a bus every day to Valle Nevado but let me tell you it will be quite expensive. Big buses will have trouble beacuse of the sleet, rain and snow so you will have to go on a special mini van with specisl tyres. Several tour companies offer their services and depends on the number of people taking the mini van.

The best advice will be to look into several tour companies (tourismo Cocha, Otis tours, Turistel) and ask for prices. Maybe renting a car will be your best option here and it could be the cheapest after all.

  2. In the valle nevado's webpage, it says that you can get transportation from 100 to 150 (depends on the number of people)  Tel: (56) (2) 477 7705 / FAX: (56) (2) 477 7736

From Airport or Hotel (Stgo) - To Valle Nevado or Airport

100 (for 2) 80 (3 or more)   Departures from the airport to hotels between 6:00 and 23:00 hrs. Max. waiting time 45 minutes. Departures from hotels since 7:30 hrs. Estimated time of arrival at Valle Nevado at 9:00 hrs. Departures from Valle Nevado to the airport, Monday to Friday, except holidays, at any time. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 17:30 hrs.

There is a local company called "Ski Total"  in Avda. Apoquindo 4900 Loc. 39, Edificio Omnium Phone (2) 246-6881. Supposed to be cheaper, but it does not say how much

I guess the best way is, once you are there ask around and see which company can take you there within your budget.

Hope you have a nice vacations.
