I am replacing side gate 6' x 3' and due to pipework directly below where I need the post I only have

around 10" depth so I have opted for a post anchor which I can concrete in but will this be strong enough to prevent the post leaning... As only around 6" of the post sits in the anchor... Help

  1. rxh666, Look, I think this would be fine, and I will tell you why, You say only 6" of the post sits in the anchor, but your anchor will have a bolt which you will tighten up when you put the post in, this will keep it as rigid as you want. I think how successful you will be will depend on the weight of the gate, and as it is just a small gate 6x3 I don't think you have a problem.  


  2. You might be able to dig beside where you want to set your post. Set a new post and then Lag or bolt another post to the side of it back to the original location.


  3. Try making the surroundings of the fence your strength connect the fences together very well and you should have no problems Good Luck

  4. Can you not change the gate round so it is connected to the opposite end of the opening(./ .)(. \.) ?if not put a jockey wheel on the gate
