Do I use anything besides teflon tape when attaching it to the pipe that comes from the wall? Does anything go between the valve & the hose that connects to the toilet? Please help! Thanks

  1. There are different types of shut off valves. If your current one screws to the pipe then you would use the Teflon tape.

I think what you see is a compression fitting which screws to the valve body. When you remove the valve the thread will stay on the pipe side until you remove the compressed piece stuck to the pipe. The new valve comes with new parts, use them.

Make sure you shut of the water to the home and turn on a low point faucet (hot and cold) to drain whats in the pipes and bleed of any pressure that may leak past the main if its old. This will minimize your clean up and how much swimming you have to do.

    Good luck
