  1. If you are in the UK you would need to apply to the GRO, as they are the only ones who have access to the register, and that's assuming that it was dealt with by the courts, and after 1929. http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/adopti...

    hope this helps.

  2. You enter exactly the same information as on the certificate that you hold, if you are applying for a new copy.

If you are applying for a certificate with your birth mother's name on it, you need to know what her name was, and enter that along with your own birth name, but why are your adoptive parent's names on your birth certificate ?

    First poster is correct !

  3. Are you requesting a copy with your birth parents listed? Most States seal those after the adoption so, I don't think you will be able to get your original (1st birth certificate). If you are requesting a current one, you list your adoptive parents.

  4. Heather Lilley's mom is right. You won't be able to get a copy of the original with your birth parents' names listed. It was sealed at the time of your adoption and the only way you can get it is to go to court and petition for it. In all but 4 states, you can't get it unless you have something as compelling as needing a bone marrow transplant from your missing identical twin as your rationale for re-opening the adoption records.
