Question:

I am retiring from the R&S forum?

Who agrees that this forum is not conducive to substantial questions, answers, and dialog? In a place where there is such limited time and space, does not facile argumentation carry the day far too often?

  1. i do agree...but on the other hand...i have learned to control my anger, become humble, and i have learned how to take criticism for nothing at all.

i once wanted to quit this site....but somehow through all the stupid nonsense, frustration, ignorance and condemnation.....it has somehow made me a better person!

you just have to learn to pick the questions you want and avoid the obviously stupid ones.

a lot of these people are very brutal and insensitive.....but arent all these things what God tells us we will have to deal with?

sometimes i think this is why God has led me to this site!

i hope you give it second thoughts!

    God Bless You!

    With Love...."D"

  2. Retire so.... hmmm upgrades.

  3. You're right. It's not worth a d**n if you want substance. My very first account on R&S was 100% serious and I would quote everything from The Tao to the Gnostic Gospels. Now I'm in the back row of class with all the bad kids.

  4. may God's love go with you.

  5. OH ...   :-P

I get annoyed by the meaningless blah blah that goes on on here, but some people ask good honest questions and some people give good honest answers.  That's why I stick around.

  6. good bye, preachy

  7. Suit yourself. This is a free country.

  8. It is very hard to find questions to answer here that are interested in finding out some truth rather than just airing opinions. So I understand why you are leaving. That said, I've really liked reading your stuff, and you will be missed.

    (((st preachy)))

  9. Hey man, if you need to, take some time off of here.  But do come back when things get settled, and the kids are back in school.

The average 14 year old is not interested in anything except trying to impress another 14 year old on here.

Things will eventually get better, see you later - take care.

  10. I wasn't aware this was for debating lol  It was just short answers to a question.  The only way you could debate would be off site through emails and such.  This is just fun to see how much logic flusters believers when their faith has not one shred of factual evidence.

  11. I think St. Preachy is a pretty cool guy. eh preaches and retires from the forums and doesn't afraid of anything.

  12. Well if you expect to find respectful discussion and conversation of depth, then no, I wouldn't think you would be happy here. Passes the time though.

  13. Goodbye cruel forum.  Yawn.

  14. while i do agree that there is far too much bashing and dumb questions asked solely for the purpose of inciting arguments and far too much "cutting down" going on i still see there are sincere questions as well. people whom genuinely want or need an answer to serious questions. i being a Christian can not turn my back and not help when i am able to do so. this is wrong. if someone was to give u a candle and u were the only 1 with the candle would u light it and hide it under a basket or would u lite it and put it in a holder where it can be utilized? i would use it. so it is with the truth. i believe i have been given, through study research and instruction, some truths about the bible and God's word.  i can not call myself a Christian and hide these truths in my closet. i must utilize them. i must use them to help others as others used them to help me.

the only thing u can take from earth when u leave (die) is your works. both good and bad works are listed in the book of life beside your name i plan to have a huge list on the good side because the bible states that your good works are the linen which makes your white robe in heaven. i do not wish to just make it to heaven by the skin of my teeth i wish to have a LONG flowing white robe and i will do everything i can while im here to accomplish this.

so, while i do agree in part with u i do not agree with leaving when there are still some who may actually need help it is against God's word

  15. That's the very same reason why I stick to asking ridiculous questions and answers instead of actually debating.

  16. That's why I pop out of here from time to time.  I could spend hours scrolling down and reading questions that have no substance but I sure have a good laugh at some of the answers. You have to admit it can be a riot on here....and aren't we one big happy family!!

  17. Well it seems that every time a substantial question is asked, it gets deleted, and like wise with the answers.  They tend to call it chatting...  gee, how are you supposed to explain and exchange ideas without debate?  We'll miss you though.

  18. It is what we make of it. The participants ARE the forum.

I find that there is a lot of repetition, however.

The time-wasting questions are easily avoided by not clicking on them.

I try to answer questions in the spirit in which they are asked.

  19. Sorry you're disappointed..

  20. Bye!

    Have a nice life!

    What?  You're still here?

  21. Dear S P,

As shallow, frustrating, and repeatative as this place can be; it still is one place where we can share our faith.  I will PM you with some other sites where the discussion is deeper, and the fellowship is stronger.  Yet I still come back here daily.

    Mark

  22. I agree, though I do think I'll stay (at least until school starts, cause after that I won't have any time).  It seems that I'm one of the few atheists on here who really DOES respect religion as a whole.  It interests me (I'd like to study archaeology/anthropology in college), so I feel that I have just as much a right to be here as even the most devout Christian.  But I totally agree that I'm so sick of the personal attacks aimed against certain groups.  It really angers me.  Shouldn't humanity as a whole be beyond segregation based on religion and the lackthereof?

  23. Maybe a forum that that allowed you to post more in the same discussion might be more suited for your interests.

  24. Look, we're not here to think or conduct intelligent discussion. Good God, especially not in R&S.

  25. bye

don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya

  26. I retired for a year.

  27. Please dont go well miss your incredibly intelligent questions and answers---------------------------------...

  28. It's been my experience on the net that people who announce that they are leaving a particular forum are people who will not be missed. This includes you.

  29. Perhaps you are right, but.... What if one genuine heartfelt question finds an answer? Is it still not worth the effort? Good luck!

  30. I agree, but it's fun here! :D

I hope you'll be back soon. You WILL be back, after all lol :P

  31. I started a group on ning called The Society of Spiritual Coexistence because I feel the same way.  I want a place where people of many faiths can talk and learn from one another without people arguing over who's right and wrong.  I want a place where people accept each other for what they believe.  If this sounds good to you, the website is manypaths.ning.com
