I am running CAT5E as phone line to each room What is wiring Diagram and What is each wire for?

I need to know the wire oriantation for a RJ-45 Connector and which two wires are for phone lines

  1. it is called a CAT5E 4 pair. you only need to use the blue and white pair. the rest is spare pairs. you don't need to buy CAT6 or CAT6A this is for high speed Internet. and there is not many people using it. plus the cost is more for the CAT6 cable what are your plans for the RJ-45. are you putting this in a house?

    BUT, I'll try to help you, or at least point you in the right direction :

    This site tells you how to do the split.  You basically need a pair cable (they suggest blue and white) and route to your jack.

    Hope this helps, but I think the middle two wires are the phone.  You can also get a filter too, which can connect Cat cables to phone cables.
