Question:

I am sad and I don't know why

Hi...I don't know exactly how i should ask this question but here goes....I have had an "odd" day. I felt different all day, but was able to carry on as usual. Then all of a sudden probably an hour ago I started feeling very sad and depressed, and I don't know why. There has been nothing that I can think of that would cause this. Family life is good, have two very good friends that I am close to, and I have a lot to be thankful for. So I don't get why I am so sad all of a sudden. Any suggestions on how to feel better would be great. Nothing I am doing seems to be helping me at all :(

  1. Well it could be alot of things.....everything from hormones to a depression disorder that needs to be seen by a doctor. If I was you I would just pay attention to how often you get this feeling or how bad it gets. If it continues see a doctor before it gets worse.  


  2. I think we all get the "blues" every now & again.  But if this continues for 2 weeks or more, or if you have serious suicide thoughts, you want to seek help immediately.

    Sometimes also, it's a side effect of medications you maybe on.  Shopping seems to help for some.  Or being in bright lights.  Or listening to a comic telling some funny stories might also work.  

    Hope it passes quickly.


  3. It's likely just a normal mood swing due to hormones, fatigue, the weather, etc.

    Try having a caffeinated drink as a pick me up, exercise, listen to music that you like, or just do something you really enjoy in general to help your mood. It's nothing to worry about as long as you don't experience these feelings for two weeks or longer. In that case you'd need to be concerned about clinical depression, but feeling a little down for a little while is nothing to worry about.

    Oh: are you PMSing possibly? It's very likely that it could be the culprit.

  4. You are sad because you are not happy and you want to be. Happiness does not come from a comfortable life. See site below so you can be happy by being happy.
