I am satisfied with my career so far, says JP Duminy – Cricket News Update
South Africa’s middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, and also expressed satisfaction over his achievements in international cricket so far.
The 28-year-old cricketer came through the ranks of junior sport in South Africa, debuting in 2004 in One Day Internationals. The left-hander however, took some time to cement his place in the national team, which is the reason why he has just played 16
Tests, 94 ODIs and 39 T20s for the Proteas till date.
The stylish batsman was always tipped for greatness due to the immense potential he holds. However, most analysts believe that the cricketer from Cape Town is yet to fulfil the expectations attached with him.
Duminy expressed that he bats in the lower middle-order and does not get enough chances to play big knocks, which has hampered his progress at the international level. The left-hander hopes for a promotion in the batting order in future.
"I’m happy with where I am," says Duminy. "The last two or three months have been pretty good. I would have liked some bigger performances but you’re not always going to get the chance to play the longer innings and to stamp your authority on a game, but
the time will come. And when it does, I’ll just have to make sure I’m ready to take it."
The budding cricketer has so far scored more than four thousand runs at the game’s highest stage, including four centuries. On top of that, Duminy averages 51 runs per innings in first-class cricket, which is absolutely brilliant for a middle-order batsman.
While talking about the World T20, the hard-hitting batsman expressed that his team has a chance of lifting the trophy, provided the boys can handle pressure at crunch moments.
"We have enough talent in this squad to go all the way but we’ll have to keep thinking on our feet and adapting to conditions and the match situation," he believes.
