  1. Please dont worry too much, any type of labour hurts! But your daughter has to come out one way or another!! The people I know who have been induced have said its uncomfortable, but the means to an end!

    Good luck

  2. i had one and it doesnt hurt anymore than a normal labour (i had 1 induced and 1 baby naturally) it will be a quicker birth though but just relax and let your body do the work. when you have you gorgeous little baby the pain will be forgotten

  3. I'm not sure what they say there going to put in, but my little boy was a week late. And the midwife came and gave me a sweep. Which is basically you laying on the bed, and she'll put two fingers in and swish around, to try and get the mucus plug. It wont hurt, it's embarrassing and feels weird but it's not awful. Oh and also I found when in labor (which wont be long , even though it feels like it) gas and air is really good, pethidine is horrible, it feels as if your drunk, and an epidural is ten out of ten. Congratulations, good luck and try not to fret

  4. The doctors attempted to induce me at 42 weeks also by inserting ?a device.  They claimed it would be 'uncomfortable, like a pap smear'.  Well clearly the male doctor had never experienced the 'discomfort' of a pap smear.  It was more uncomfortable than a pap smear - but not necessarily painful.  I was in stirrups and they gave me gas.....it was worse with the gas because I felt so out of control.  So then the lovely midwife started asking me about baby names etc and distraction worked for me.

  5. First of all, calm down. First babies tend to come whenever they want, usually a little later than subsequent ones. Second, labor is labor, nothing hurts more than the labor, lol, so I wouldn't worry about the induction, it's all going to hurt unless you are having meds.

Third, congratulations. If you're 1cm dilated, you'll probably have the baby this weekend. With my second, I went in at 3 cm, and 45 minutes later, there was the baby! The first one took about 20 hours. Everyone is different and that's no more apparent than in pregnancy.

If you're still concerned about the induction, and the baby hasn't come before next week, ask your gyno/mid-wife about things you and your partner can do to stimulate the labor. I'd go into detail, but this is a PG site!

Good luck, don't worry, it will be ok, and believe me, in the end any discomfort or pain will be worth it (yeah, everyone told me that, and there were times when I questioned it, but for the most part, they were right)
