I am looking for my mothers fathers, his name was Richard Crite or Krite, he was last seen in 1934-35 in Cinc.OH,?

He was last seen in Cincinnati OH...I'm sure he has passed on since then...but I'm sure his family is still out there, he had a brother...It was my mothers dream to find him or a family member that belong to him. The hospital misspelled his name on her birth certificate and this is the only other two ways of spelling it. He was believed to of been German , but that could be wrong too. It was tough times back then. I would love to find him for her, she has sinced passed on 2 years ago. If you or anyone knows of the family, please contact me. My mother was an only child and she had 7 children and alot of grandchildren, he or any of his family members would be proud of how strong she was in life. Richard is my grandfather, if anyone knows of him or his family please contact me at msladybender@yahoo.com

  1. I am assuming he was an adult when he went to Cincinnati, so I subtracted about 20 years from the dates you gave and came up with these listings on www.ancestry.com. The last name added an "s" on some of them:

    1920 United States Federal Census

    Mother's Birth Place: Arkansas

    Marital Status: Single

    Race: White

    Some other spellings--

    3.Name:  Richard T Crites

    Birth:  abt 1917 - California

    www.familysearch.org had this:

    Richard Creitz  (a son, maybe??)

    Birth:  About 1935   <, , Ohio>

    Death:  AUG 1996

    Richard CRITE - U.S. Social Security Death Index

    Birth: 8 Mar 1957  State Where Number was Issued: North Carolina  Death: 10 Jun 1994

    It's hard to locate someone without a possible birthdate or parents' names because name spellings can change so fast and so often.

  2. Are there ANY other clues you may have, or persons to question?  I did not find him under either spelling in the social security death index.  If he lived in Cinn. in 1930, I would hope he will be findable on the 1930 census.  Approximate age?  Was there a marriage between dad and mom? That is a searchable record, if we had her name.  Offhand, I don't see him in 1930 in Ohio, but if misspelled, that is understandable.

    If your MOM WAS born prior to 1930, it may be workable to search using her name. Another thing is details relating to her mother, since that could place him in a certain area/ city at a certain date.

    I do see a Richard Creitz, went into the Marines in 1937. This is a possiblity.

    You can send me a note through my  profile if you like.

    It could take some work, but it is not impossible.

  3. If German the name is almost certainly Krite; which is germanic;

    Try family search dot org or dot com and also try the social security administration death index for the name if he died they will have his social security number which you can use under freedom of information to request his application information, and from there you can find his birth certificate;

    good luck to you.
