I really don't want to lose that time in, but 2 tours of Iraq and another on the way are just enough for me.

  1. When applying for a job and you have the equivalent experience and education as another client. The you will receive first consideration. In cases where an examination is required for a position, veterans receive 10 points automatically.

  2. I'm not in the military and never was. But I would assume that If you had a dishonorable discharge/stop-loss (or however you're going to get yourself out of the military), the DOD job (or any job for that matter)

is probably going to ask you why you stopped.

For the lighter, smaller, menial jobs they probably don't care too much. But I'm sure for a DOD job they'll be asking you AND running a background check (they're govt too) on why you got out early.

I'm not too familiar with the names, terms, or whatnot. The stuff with dishonorable discharge/stop loss is stuff i heard from the media, so please excuse me for my ignorance.

    Just letting you know.

  3. Yes, You could go to the VA website and USAJOBS.com website and apply..You do have to have a RESUME to apply...

  4. YES!

You can use your military time for most, if not all, DOD jobs outside of the military.  Even some civilian jobs, Law Enforcement for example, will also accept military time as part of their time in service, although depending on the employer and the job, you may not get all of your military time as credit, but you can get most.  If it's a DOD job, you should get all of your military time as credit.
