  1. huh?

  2. If you are trying to start a conversation with a deaf person, first you need to get their attention, let them know that you have something interesting to tell them.  Identify them by name so that they know who you are talking to. Its all in the facial expressions and body language.  Because deaf people cannot hear, they are expecting that communication through your body language.  If you are excited about something, you need to show it in your face and through your body.  If you are confused, upset, angry, all emotions need to be shown through your face and body language.

The sentences below are complicated sentences requring detailed information so a deaf people are better able to understand what you are trying to say.  Come to think about it, hearing people would need more information too.  Anyways, my tranformation are posted below each sentence.

    1. Yesterday, my husband called me on his lunch break.

Hey girl! news! yesterday my husband call me time 12 noon Lunch.  Why? Private (This should be shown in facial expressions)

    2. All of my male friends are college graduates.

Hey (name of person)!  you know Ithinking I.. happen realize 1 male friend college finish, 2 male friend college finish, 3 male friend college finish, ALL my male friends college finish.  All graduates! WOW

    3. I lived in 3 states under protective services.

Hey girl! News finally can tell!  family saw person POW (bodily and facial expressions important here) person die.  happen family need run.  live state here.  (directionality) live state here. live state here.  3 states live.  why cops help hide.

I hope this was helpful.  Just know that to simply say the sentence, the sentence itself would be a lot shorter.  But to help a deaf person make meaning of what you are trying to say, you need details.

  3. well... i dont know how to type ASL
