  1. as long as going to Australia is concerned i think u got to understand that racism will be a factor for you(even thou you call your a white) because Australians are funny people and they don't like anyone from anywhere in the world. you better talk to people who have lived in Australia before making a move to Australia i for sure would never ever go (to live) in Australia.

  2. 1 in 4 Australians were born overseas.  That is why we hate furriners so much.  Not.

At your age get a working holiday visa.  It means you can work in Australia and also travel around.  17 is pretty young.  After a year or so of travelling you may have a completely different attitude on life, but at least you will have had a great experience.

  3. If I were in your position I'd go to Australia, at your age they will let you in, so long as you work, i think it's 2yrs your allowed to stay, while there, you could get someone to sponser you to stay there!

  4. I think you need to be over 18 to get a working holiday visa for Australia. Probably worth checking the Department of Immigration web site to be sure. I think it would also be fairly easy for you come in on a student visa, but there are restrictions on how much work you can do while you are studying in Australia. Both of these visas have expiry dates, and if you are looking for a way to move to Australia permanently, that will be more difficult for you.

  5. Do a Google search for Australian visa information, you should be able to get a visa to go out there and work and finish your education at the same time, go for it, wish I had done it at your age, good luck.

  6. Yeah, disregard what Ajz R said.  You WILL be made fun of, you WILL be called a POM (Prisoner of Our Mother, Prisoner of Our Mother the Queen or Prisoner of Our Mother England, it depends), but they mean it in good fun.  But, then you are from England, London even, you won't have a problem with all that.  If you are like other Londoners I know, you won't have any trouble giving it right back, but I just mean warn you.

I am an Australian Citizen, American resident.  I went down there and worked in a barfor about a year, a place where I was called a seppo, short for septic.  Get it.

As far as getting into America, that might be kinda difficult.  Unfortunately it's hard to get a work visa in America.  If you succeed, all the more power to you.

Also, I think tuppenbitz's comment is wrong.  I knew a lot of travelers while I was traveling around.  It would help if you have some skills.  But I don't think it is requisite.  A lot of travelers work on farms down there, but that is definately NOT something recommended.  But it is an option.  Sydney is of course the most expensive place, but it's also where most of the jobs are going to be.  Or you may try going to work in one of the resort towns; though it would probably be best to get there in about November, springtime and the beginning of the vacations.

  7. You can stay for up to a year on a working holiday visa once you're 18, see www.immi.gov.au for the details.  Immigrating permanently to Australia though is very difficult.

  8. You have a few options for coming to Australia. The easist way is if you're a skilled worker but without any qualifications or experience unfortunatly you miss out on that.

    The other options are:

Come over as a student, you can obtain a student visa allowing you to study as well as restricted part time work.

Working holiday, pretty self explainitory though you need to be 18.

Working visa, come over and work in Australia for a year or so.

For you're situation I suggest coming over as a Student. You will gain qualifcations that are accepted internationally and can support yourself at the same time.

See http://www.immi.gov.au for the various visa's and rules and regulations.

  9. Uh excuse me Ajiz R but Australians are not against people from other countries. Aussies are far from racist and Australia is extremely multicultural probably one of the most multicultural in the world.

We love meeting people from other countries and we love Poms! Just wanted to make that clear.

So yeah Australia is a great place for a guy your age as there are lots of universitys, etc. And there's heaps to do especially for your age group.

    Good luck

  10. you don't stand much chance of moving to Australia unless you are skilled in an occupation Australia needs and seeing that you are only 17 you will not have that
