  1. Well, if you are not into cars I can see where this might be a not so interesting class for you. But I wouldn't treat it as a complete waste of time.

You might want to at least get the fundamentals of how a vehicle operates. This could be a great benefit when you do get a license and start driving. If the car or truck you are driving develops problems, you will have a better advantage of getting it repaired when you understand what it wrong.

You may not complete the class knowing what camshaft valve overlap and duration is and how it enhances performance. If you have no interest in cars, it would be useless information to you. But if you complete the class knowing what a camshaft is, then you got some very useful information even if you have no desire to ever work on a car.

  2.     Even though you really are not into cars it really important that you at least have a little under standing of what you are driving, just in case you break down and its an easy fix.  You know even the ladies should take an automotive class.  There are a lot of woman out there that are car smart.

I have been in automotive field for over 30 years and things have really changed for the worse as far as I am concerned.  The Dealerships and independent shops are selling services that custom really does not need.  So learn about your car, be smart.

  3. Culinary arts is a fine profession, as well as Auto tech. As you have a propensity for the Culinary Arts class, you should try to be there. However you might consider this. Knowing your way around under the hood of a car will help you so many more "automotive" situations than just the occasional break down or flat tire. Think about it. A vehicle of some description will be your primary means of transportation for the rest of your life. Vehicles have many moving parts and those parts do fail. Having a working knowledge of how a vehicle works, is the best thing a soon-to-be-driver could do with their time. Knowing how to change your own flat tire also enables you to rotate your own tires using the exact same skills. Knowing how to change your own oil and/or replace your worn brakes, will save you hundreds of dollars  over the life of a vehicle.

Culinary Arts is a wonderful field of study as well. But having an interest in that already, you will surely spend more time exploring that    in your future. Not being a "car guy", you may never have the opportunity or even the desire to explore the field of technical automotive study. The lifelong benefits and the perfect timing of you being, about to drive, I encourage you to take the Auto Tech class. The payoff will be lifelong.

  4. Nothing but pro's... Even if ur not into cars you can learn something thst can help u when u buy a car or need to do minor repair that could save you some money. NOw thats a PRO right there.
