I am signed up to take the SATs in Oct. But should i also take the ACTs?

Ive has people tell me to take both, Whats the advantage of taking both?

  1. Yes, you should also take the ACTs.

    It is an advantage because unlike the SATs, you can take the ACTs as many times as you want and schools will never see it unless you want to send in your score. You will see your score first and decide whether or not you want to submit it to colleges.

    Also, many colleges weigh the ACT just like the SAT. In other words, it's somewhat interchangeable. Some schools allow the ACT INSTEAD of SAT scores. So if you do better on ACT, you can replace your SAT.

    Taking both and sending in both will be good for big universities and Ivy league schools. The more tests you take the better it looks.

    Also, the SAT is more of a logic/reasoning test. The ACT is a fact-based test. For the SAT, there is a lot of strategy involved...test taking strategy and problem solving is what you are most tested on. The ACT is more strictly memorization of facts. So depending on which one you are more comfortable with, you will score better on that one.
