  1. Figure out what you might need and what you have room to store (in the closet, in the fridge, in the freezer, etc.).

Then just put on your walking shoes and go to the store.

Practice Transcendental Meditation in the Costco parking lot while trying to find or wait for a space. (And you thought you would never have time to meditate!)

Once in the store, the first thing you do is identify the location of the Ladies Room. You never know. And besides, that is where you can try on clothes. This applies to people of the female persuasion. In my experience, men do not try on clothing. That is more a "Gatherer" skill, and Men are "Hunters."

Then, walk around without a shopping cart and just look at what you might want. Take as long as you want. Look at all those huge televisions and all those 12-packs of gallon jars of pickles. Take notes. Eat as many samples as you can. This keeps your energy up.

Then, after you have walked the entire store (counting for about 12 Weight Watchers activity points), go and sit in the snack bar at the front with one of those big pretzels (with mustard and a glass of milk) and write a list of what you actually want to buy and about how much all that costs and what is realistic.

ONLY THEN, go get a cart and pick up what you have decided to get. As you go around the store, look for boxes that you could carrry the stuff home in.

It's okay to dump out stuff at the last minute that is more than you wanted or costs too much. If it's perishable, tell the clerk and they will get someone to put it back in the fridge.

Now, go home and try to find a place to put everything!

  2. If you're so afraid of Costco, then stick to a smaller grocery store.  You arent obligated to shop there!  The bigger issue here is not why "we" Americans need so much, but why do you fear Costco?

  3. in signgpeapore we have stores caleld VALUESTORE PLUS GOLDEN BALLS ius place for buyghinh lots of squids and shrihnmps, touilets, compct doscs, you know everuyong thing yyou need!!! but man at doror wikll yell and cuss ig litle boy sneaks in with otu dadty!!! so be caredfuil frienga!!!

but insife you can have fres samopekls of dried clams, goat pericardifvgum (is word?), tendrer littl morsels of snacks??? is good place!!!!! but bnec careful there are TRACTPRS

  4. It's great.

They don't only sell food. I bought a bedroom set including queen size mattress & box spring, sleigh bed with 2 wardrobes and 2 night tables for under $2000 CDN. My husband has gotten his prescription for glasses filled there. For groceries we make sure we need what we are buying, cleaning stuff , laundry soap, aspirins etc are good buys

  5. its nothing to be afraid of when i go i buy things that wont go bad fast, like toilet paper, ect.. but if you are planing a dinner party it is a great place cause you can get alot of food for a cheaper price.

  6. great place to shop. nothing to be afraid of. they sell very good quality products, but in large size packages. i buy a lot from them; fruit, vegetables, tools, gasoline, office products, etc. they have a smaller assortment of products than most other store, but what they have is good.

  7. How Costco work?

    1. You need a membership, which you have.

    2. Load up your cart and check out.

    3. At the check out, place small items on the conveyor belt and leave the big bulky items in the cart.

    4.  When it's your turn, give the clerk your card which he will scan, plus your merchandise.

    5.  You will receive a total.

    6.  You pay - Cash, Check or Debit card.  No credit card unless you have a Costco credit card.

Come on... it isn't hard.  The workers are friendly and you can get free samples.  Just avoid the weekends.

There is nothing to be afraid of at Costco.  My young daughter loves Costco.  You got to be more mature than a 2nd grader.  Aren't you?

Most people, not only Americans, like shopping at Costco to save money.   Also, Costco has quality merchandise, good prices with better warranties and a great return policy.

As to Americans need too many (much?), well it's called "consumerism" which drives the US and the world's economy.

  8. Not everything is in bulk. Sometime it cheaper. Here in Hawaii Milk for instance can be $6.00 a gallon at Costco it only four. That is great for families who drink a lot of milk. For single people it might not work out so well unless you can spit the stuff up. You could spit up paper towels, toilet paper, and computer paper  we do this with my aunt all the time. You also split up a tray of apples or pears. And I would warn not to be stereotypical. Not all Americans have a lot.

  9. There are only two of us . but there are great buys.  The meat is of the highest quality ..... although I don't like their hamburg meat. It is great to shop there if you are having a function; the paper plates, cups, napkins, etc. is a wonderful deal.  My son is 16 and drinks alot, so the vitamin water is cheaper by the box, the bottle water, the Fuze, etc. We have purchased, heaters, the magic bullet, shower heads, gifts for weddings.  So you do not have to buy items in bulk.  Oh and you get delicious tasting "snacks" while you shop.
