  1. They can if their parents teach them how to spell.

  2. Sure - there are plenty of excellent colleges that actually recruit home schoolers because they've had experience with studying on their own, something that some of my public schooled friends said they were never taught.  Just keep in mind that they'll be looking for a certain amount of additional paperwork from a homeschooled student.  For instance, one school complained that my older brother's transcript didn't have an embossed seal on it... The bigger the school, the more likely that they're familiar, and more comfortable with, homeschooling.

Are you a homeschooler, or someone looking to homeschool their children? Either way, it's probably a good idea to get an idea of what  the college will need, long before you apply.  Some schools expect you to get diplomas from certain approved organizations, or expect you to have taken a specific list of subjects.  It's usually a good idea to apply as early as possible, because your additional paperwork requirements may take them longer to process your application.

    Good luck

  3. Not if you can't spell "college". And yes I was home schooled and I went to a very good business school and got my AA degree.

  4. I believe you mean college.

Yes, just like everyone else who has good grades.

  5. Yes if you can afford it.  Many college make room for them.

You still have to pass the placement exams.

You may have to take the SAT or ACT and have a good score on it.

You do have to meet the background requirments in Math, Langauge, History, Science, Arts.

  6. Colleges don't care whether you were homeschooled or not. They will treat your application on exactly the same basis as everyone else's.

  7. Yes.

If you're homeschooled, you have to at least present a transcript. Activities you've done, letters of recommendation from teachers, and so forth.

You take the SAT/ACT, and you also have to take subject tests.

What matters is that you can show what you've done and if you're up to par, they'll take you. Doesn't matter if you got your grades at school or not.

Grades from your mom don't count though.

  8. Homeschooled students can absolutely go to a good college. What it takes is a great grade-point average, a great SAT or ACT score, and a good "resume" describing your interests and ways you've helped with the community when you apply for acceptance.  You'll have to take the same entrance exams as other students and those will be used to place you either in regular math and English (the 101 courses) or into honors, which usually means you can skip 101 and 102 if you pass the honors course. Apply to the colleges you are interested in. Remember, you're going to be competing against literally thousands of other applicants. Try to stand out and - when you go for your interview before admission, have a "game plan": what you want to major in, what career you want and why.  Make sure you apply to a good number of colleges. It's easier to get in somewhere if you don't limit yourself to only one or two schools.  You can always transfer to a preferred college later.  Make sure whatever courses you take in the first 2-4 semesters transfer to other colleges easily if you do plan on transferring. You can usually find out that information from the college to which you want to transfer.  Good luck!!

  9. colleges actually look for home schooled students because of their self descipline.

  10. Yep, they can even go to Harvard. Almost every college is open to them, as long as they do well on ACT or SAT..

  11. I am assuming you mean college. And yes, they do very well in college and are actually sought out now. My daughter will actually be dual enrolled at a local community college next year for her Junior and Senior year of High school, she will graduate with an AA degree if all goes well.

  12. they can go to a great college and homeschooling helps them to learn to be flexible and create their own schedules.

  13. No, they never get into a good coloage, however they often get into great colleges!

  14. Yes,a good percentage of them do.

  15. Not all homeschoolers. Those who do well and want to go to good colleges do. Since Harvard and Princeton are examples of colleges which accept homeschoolers, I'd say it's a safe bet that other good colleges do, too.

  16. Not only do home schooled children go to good colleges, but the students that I've met are far more advanced, academically, than traditionally educated students.

  17. yes. just like everyone else. they are even accepted to ivy league universities.

  18. They get jobs if they want to get jobs.  They do online study for college degrees if they want to continue their education.  They go to college if they want to go to college.  They are just like regular folk...they just learn at home instead of learning in a classroom.
