Question:

I am so depressed and I cant eat... what do I do??

It has been 4 days now...and i thought by now i would be back to my normal eating habits, but im not. 4 days ago i lost my best friend in a "brutal" way and i dont feel like explaining everything but it left me crushed. and i am already super skinny like im 5'5 and 100 lbs. and now i can barely eat cuz i just dont feel like eating the thought of it makes me sick. i have to force food down a lil at a time but its just not enough. how long is too long for this to last? is there anything i can do? or just wait it out? can you relate?

  1. Something like this happened to me recently as well. It took a long time before I started eating normally again. I was told to find a doctor to talk to but the thought of that made things worse, so I waited it out and started to eat little meals until I worked up to eating regular again. Believe me though I wanted to eat but I couldn't even force it. Even drinking water was a problem. Time does help, but I still haven't forgotten. Once you get over this though, the tough part will be clear thinking


  2. I've been a suffer of depression for many years. When I've been really having a hard time I've even resorted to frozen dinners just to eat something.

    What sometimes helps though can be to actually get into the kitchen whether it's making a soup which is an easy way to make a big pot of something which you can keep adding to and is a least there and when you feel like something and is easy to swallow.

    The cooking process can sometimes help as well I find it a bit of a stress release sometimes.

    I think also importantly if you can get outside take a walk or just sit in the sun for a little it can help. I know sometimes when depressed though it can be just as hard to get out of the house.

    If you can't get out of the house do something that makes you feel comfortable. You sometimes just have to try to make yourself even if they're small steps each day they will help you improve.

    There are also some natural health products that you could consider which will lift your mental health. Unlike taking doctor prescriptions for depression which personally I didn't take like, there are some great products which will balance your depression and also maintain your nutritional level even if you don't feel like eating.

    Look also at other alternatives like massage,meditation,Kinesiology

    and music.

  3. Make power shakes and force yourself to drink them with straws. That way it goes by faster.

  4. take it from me when me and my ex girlfriend were on and off dating when we were off i couldn't eat so heres what you do eat peanut butter either a few spoonfuls or in a sandwich and it fills you up and also is full of the nutrients  

  5. Hey Sweety, i'm sorry to hear about your friend, but let me put it down this way, if u dont eat soon i'm afraid u'll join him/her ok??

    So here's what to do first i dont know if u talked about it to someone, if u're not a talk kind of person, it'll really help to talk to ur parents or any dear friend or someone mutual to both of u.

    about the eating par, u mustnt force the food in or u'll just throw up!

    So, dont worry about gaining weight right now, cuz u're super skinny, buy yourself a treat, we girls like this huh?! Buy some chocolate anything that will stimulate ur appetite, ice-cream....

    then try to eat with another friend maybe go out :-)

    Dont let this crush u deary, Do something that ur friend would have liked both of u to do together, I did that!

  6. time dose heal all wounds you need to push on through this tragic event you maybe able to eat some kind of bar or shake but you may need to talk about the indecent with a trusted friend or maybe a complete stranger sometimes it is easier you may be blaming yourself for what has happened and therefore are punishing yourself buy not allowing yourself to eat. when i couldn't eat i would drink ensure drinks or whatever you may like.

    right now you are in a state of shock but with time you will be ok litle by litle.

    I really don't know what it is, but i know you are hurting so bad, all i can say to you is that i am sorry and stay strong.

    What should matter is the good memories that we have of every person that we had the chance to meet.That is what matters.
