I just came back from the Philippines, just yesterday... I couldn't stop crying... I just keep on thinking the moments while I was still in the Philippines... I haven't adjusted that much yet, especially in the time... I miss my hometown... I miss my family and friends... I wanted to go back, but I still can't... I have to save more money first... Gosh, this is so hard... what do you think should I do to cope this problem?

  1. go back for good and all the mosquitoes, roaches and houseflies will welcome you with open arms

  2. I know that this is hard (and may sound sarcastic), but you gotta swallow the pill, buddy. Just think and concentrate on the reasons why you are there working away from your loved ones. I'm sure you have a lot of pretty good reasons and you have mentioned the number one, you have to save money first.

I can't offer any good advice or anything to console you, for I, too, am with the same predicament as yours. And maybe, someday, I would be posting the same Q. hehehe. Just laugh it out. Loosen up a bit. Think of happy thoughts. Crying will help, yes, but it will also make you look old and ugly. And you don't want that to happen.

  3. play some loud kareoke and you will feel just like you are home

  4. try to stay busy, find a hobby, find a sweet girl, make friends, share your feelings,It will get better if you let it,don't sit around and mope, find the positives.....".there was a man who cried because he had no shoes, then he saw a man that had no feet"

  5. your not alone dude. me too I'm so homesick her in my place but i don't have a choice but to stay here, work and save money for my family and for my future as well. you know what to avoid being homesick i watch philippine tv shows, listening music on youtube. im not a friendly guy so I'm not hanging out with other people. so i think to overcome that you must relax.you can also try things that im   doing.

  6. go out with friends. or if ur like me, go onlike 24/7 ^^. it'll get better.. at least u were able to go back and visit. some ppl arent as lucky..

  7. Look forward to your next vacation. Time flies, you'll never know that you're gonna be here again. I mean living in faith, with a goal, looking forward to do something else you want to be doing all along helps you get by and survive the crisis of loneliness and boredom. Create a new hobby, do better at work and look forward to that day, the day when you're gonna be here again.

  8. Hello there dear friend.  Welcome back.  I know it's really hard having to taste home and then leave it again after just a few weeks of unabated happiness.  But you've been through this before; pretty soon you'd settle into your school routine and things will normalize again somewhat.  For now, allow yourself some pangs of homesickness.  At the same time, however, keep your mind on things that are here and now.  Get ready for school, sweetie.  And enjoy YAPping too before you get busy again.

  9. Just calm down and relax.

You can get used to it. Homesickness is really common and people overcome them in a few days.

Put your mind on other things and once in a while you can think about the Philippines again without crying a lot or being homesick too much.

Take a few deep breaths and put your mind slowly away from the Philippines and back from where you were before, when you still weren't there.

    Okay?

I hope you get better. (:

  10. I felt that once and I know how hard it is....but try to think that you are there for a good reason, and everybody and everything will be there for you, when you go back...

Try to enjoy where you are...because tomorrow may be you will miss it too....:)

  11. visit ur filipino friends, in the area u stay....that will help i promise

  12. The main thing is not to try to suppress your thoughts and feelings, but at the same time don't nurture exaggerated  sentimentality.  Try to stay in touch as much as you can or wish; nowadays that is not so difficult as it used to be.

  13. See the movie, " Patton: Blood and Guts".

Then pretend you're the soldier he found in the infirmary, suffering from nothing less than shock, but no physical malady to speak of.

When he goes for his silver revolver,  you better  bolt upright, soldier, and get very physically active, or I swear he will really shoot you.

  14. Try and relax, give yourself sometime.  The first little while is always tough but the pain of separation  will ease as you get into a normal routine.

  15. Where are you living? I bet there are other Filipino OFWs living near you and there is a chance there might be a whole community of them. Go onto Craigslist for your local area, and create ads seeking other Filipino nationals for friendship. Having other Filipino friends there who speak your language and understand your culture is a great way to cope with homesickness.

  16. for the first year,

    you'll really feel nostalgic.

but after you gain some new friends,

    you'll start feeling better.

it's just a matter of getting used to it..

    a matter of time.

    " wag ka mag-alala dude.

madali namang masanay ang pilipino. "

i'm sure you're going to be just fine. =)

    keep praying (and working).

  17. just stay on yap.

this category feels just like home.
