  1. If it's your first time snowboarding, you should consider taking just a beginner's lesson (even if it's just for an hour) just so you can get the proper form down.  If you are used to skiing and have been doing it all your life, it will take some adjustment for snowboarding.

They will teach you about toe-side and heel-side.  For most beginners it is easier to stay heel side (with your back against the mountain), but try not to get too used to this otherwise you will revert to heel-side for everything.

  2. In my experience, snowboarding is harder to catch onto than skiing, but (supposedly) once you do catch on, you can move onto tricks and advanced moves more quickly.  I have been snowboarding only twice and the first time I spent most of the day sitting down.  The second time, I was able to navigate the green slopes fairly well.  You and your friend will probably want to split up for snowboarding and meet back for hot chocolate.

  3. dude if u really want to do this u just gotta get ur *** on that board and be ready for the pain, but in the end it's all worth it..and this is comin from a chick lol

  4. No they are not similar--do not go at a pace you are not comfortable with.  You can keep trying only if you survive the first time!!

  5. Pam, you definetly want to be honest with this dude and let him know that you are a beginer.  (i have gone with chicks b4 that said they were good but then we get to the mountain and slow you down and it is kinda anoying)     Maybe u can bond a bit with him teaching you tho . BUT ILL BE HONEST HERE .   You WILL NOT CATCH ON FAST it takes time you have to take it slow slow slow, and pratice.    My best advise is to start slow practice just binding in your front foot and "sk8ing" around the bottom of the hill as this is the method used to ride the lift. The lift is going to be your 1st and biggest hurtle/....     OK IF YOU DONT WANT TO FALL then DO NOT lean back on your snowboard. Thats what all beginners want to do/>   Thats what your body wants to do naturally.  DO NOT LEAN BACK  when your leaning back you lose all your edging and lose your abilitly to turn. this will just result in your fallinhg,...   There are 4 basic movments that make a snowboard work.   PPTT   pivot pressure tilt and twist..  just remember that and remember do not lean back.  DONT be scared pam. YOur going fall but its ok.  Just make sure you tell your guy friend that you dont really know how to snowboard, so that he doesnt expcet to be rippin up the mountain, and finds out that he will be stuck on the bunny hill.  GOOD LUCK PAMM  If you want more hit me up with an email   awirmusky@yahoo.com

  6. 1st tip...bring a bottle of your favorite liquor & take a couple shots while on the chair lift...it will make you look cool in front of your friend + it will numb the pain from falling every couple seconds since its your first time!

2nd tip...wear a helmet! if the conditions are icy & you fall its gonna hurt even more!

3rd...get a lesson & once you get into the grind you will do good!
