I have heard horror stories of what people have found in their food at a restaraunt or what they have observed the employees doing around the food that they are preparing or serving. I have personally observed restaraunt employees not washing their hands after using the restroom, employees wiping their noses with their bare hands while preparing food, and I have had a cockroach crawl out of the napkin that my silverware was wrapped in. Have you had any experiences in restaraunts that just made you not want to go out to eat ever again?

  1. Yes, one time I ate at McDonalds and they had a painting on the wall depicting Donald Rumsfeld and Ronald McDonald touching each others' nether parts. It was very disturbing.

  2. It happens everywhere, i know, I dont cook, and thus i've had my fair share of food poisoning. It's terrible how people can live like this.

  3. I am not fearful at restaurantes but i certainly dont buy fast foods not only because they are bad for your health there are far to many to choose from.

  4. Germs are everywhere.  The current trend to freak out about everything is over rated.  If you treat your body well, you can resist these small things.

That said - fastfood is not treating your body well!

  5. my hair, their hair, his hair, her hair, its all the same hair.  sounds tasty to me.

  6. Once we ate a Taco Bell, and the guy blew his nose, and then didn't wash his hands. Thank God, he was working the drive thru, and we were inside! But I did complain online to them. They wanted to send us coupons, and I was like "are you out of your mind?". I will not eat Taco Bell again. And it's a shame, because I like them!

And restaurants that let their waitresses were their hair down. Hair is supposed to be pulled back or a hair net, and a lot of restaurants don't care. Where I work, we have to wear our hair back or up. I know I loose a lot of hair when I'm washing it/styling it, I can't imagine working with it down all day.

As far as fast food goes, I just try and not think of the people that work there. I'm not saying they're all disguisting but some should be behind closed doors.

  7. yes some man was coughing over the pizzas at a local pizzaria (not a franchise)

  8. Everyone should be afraid of eating in any restaurant for many reasons. Out of date food not stored properly. Food not dated.Food stored on floors, storing raw food on top or on bottom of veg. & fruits,

Employees not washing their hands, employees eating in prep area, food handled with bare hands, servers touching their hair and face and then handling your food. Chemicals stored by food, rodents and insects alive or deceased in kitchen and seating areas. Flies buzzing around seating areas as well as kitchen.

Fruits and vegetables not properly washed.

You have to go online and visit Dept. of Health to see what restaurants were inspected and see if there were violations handed out to those restaurants, usually they will list  places with a clean bill of health, as well.

  9. You're right about the lack of sanitation and hygiene in restaurants , but some of the most expensive and exclusive restaurants are the worst offenders .

In fast-food places , almost everything is out in plain view . You see very little of the food handling and preparation in the exclusive places .

Years ago , I worked in one of the richest resorts in the vacation area that I lived in . The dining room sparkled . The guests are impressed by the cleanliness . It was very fortunate that they couldn't see the kitchen , meat preparation area , the freezer rooms ,etc .

Sure , the employee rest rooms will have signs saying that employees must wash their hands . That doesn't mean that they do .

If you want clean food , prepared by clean hands , eat in your own home .

  10. My wife and I went out to celebrate on our wedding anniversary one year to her favorite place which was a place that served a Smorgasbord... We had gone there every year for about 8 years and since we were married on 12/22 just before Christmas they were ALWAYS packed...

Well we got there one year (our last) and we were the only people there which would be like nobody showing up to watch the Super Bowl... We filled our plates and started to eat and after several minutes I noticed my wife staring at my plate... I asked her why and she said because my meat balls were breathing... So of course I laughed as I thought she was being funny but she kept staring...

So I took her lead and stared at them myself and sure enough they appeared to be breathing... The lights were turned down low so I moved a little to allow more light in and that was when we saw my meat balls that I had been eating minutes before were covered with flying bugs.... The meatballs looked like they were breathing because the bugs were flying on and off the meatballs which gave it the appearance of getting bigger and then smaller...!!!!! Yes there were that many bugs....!!!! We sat there, in shock, and I noticed that they were flying from the food tables to our table by the hundreds at a time...

Well we got up and left and bought Mc Donald's on the way home... Oh yes by the way the place caught fire the following night and burnt to the ground with only about an 8 foot wall left standing...

This was a nice place with a live band and if you wanted to eat before 9pm you had better make a reservation months in advance... Dinner was $35 a plate plus drinks which for 1978 was a lot of cash... But like I said **It was** her favorite place to eat....
