I've heard that the DVD's over here are zone or region 2 (viewable only in Europe) and America is region 1. Is this true :(

  1. just get a region free player

  2. what's a DVD? that technology hasn't arrived here yet

  3. Just take the corresponding DVD player with your DVDs....

  4. They will work if you use the current dvd player you are using them on now.  Just make sure the voltage is the same, most modern electronics can handle both 110 and 220 volts but double check to make sure.

  5. this is correct

if you have a pc, take it with you and make some region free backups

alternatively, invest in a step up transformer and take your dvd player with you?

  6. You can get multi-zone players that overcome the zone setting problem.

  7. That is definitely true.  But what you can do is buy a Universal DVD player so that regions do not apply.  It isn't even that expensive, and then you can watch films from all over the world.  Hope you enjoy South America.  Visit Brazil, we have good food.
