if I had a history of my ex selling marijuana at that establishment? There is new ownership there now. I have a full time job doing Accounting, and I bartend every Sat. I need a 3rd job because it is so rough living here in Cali..

  1. Could you not ask the management at the present bar where you work to give you an extra night each week, or one every second week?

Some other questions:Does your ex ever frequent the old bar? Do any of his friends or enemies? Did you two break up on good terms ? Why did you leave working at that bar? Can you look for another bar to apply at instead? Do you manage your own household well? The most important thing is that your apartment is safe, but is it a little too fancy for your income? What about a roommate? These are questions not to tell me the answers to, but to ask yourself, or discuss with a close friend. Because of your ex dealing you must know of any dangers; is it worth working back at the same place?

  2. Absolutely apply at the bar you used to work at.  Especially if you liked the customers and they liked you!  That is really what counts to bar owners!  I know.

    Go for it!

And forget Project Payday and any paycheck loan company.  The interest rates are way too high and they want all this personal information that they get through the web and sell to other companies!  The last thing you need right now is incoming phone calls from people trying to sell you things or 'give you loans'.

Yes, times are tough right now, but they will get better and it would probably be good for you to pick up a few shifts at the place you used to work.  And don't worry, Bartenders, as long as they didn't steal, will usually get hired back to the same place regardless of the ownership.

Hang in there!  Things will get better.
