I am sooo confused! i dont understand the 5-1 rotation, please help!

in volleyball i play outside left. the girls have been patient in teaching me the rotation but im worried i'll start frustrating them. i really need help. can someone describe to me what i will do - where i will go - as an outside left player during the rotations??? thanks a bunch!!

  1. in 5-1 there is only 1 setter. the middle top.


  2. When your team is serving, switch to left side as soon as the server contacts the ball.

    When your team is serve-receiving, take the first pass or getting ready to take the first pass if you are within "reasonable range", then switch to left side. You coach could make you hit middle once (or not) before switching. The bottom line is that you have to take care of the first pass before switching to the "ultimate/ideal base position".

    Most teams at advanced level would switch OH to "left side" no matter whether you are in front row or back row. You would be the one hitting "pipe" when in back row.
