  1. Do you have a plan to roam around the ring? just keep on throwing jabs and a straight shot with a combination of upper cut.

  2. Jabs and rolling to either side when pressed against a corner works alot against pressure fighters but before you roll left or right make sure you use a punching combonation before rolling to throw your sparring partner off his or her game.

  3. Does It Really Matter?  blogbabble

  4. develop your jab and fight at a distance. use your longer arms to keep him away

  5. I went through the same exact thing, I LOVED it. You will learn that sparring in the ring with a bigger opponent will make a full sized ring feel like a stadium. Your footwork and ability to move inside and out, and get out of tight situations will grow so much sparring in small rings.

Work on your footwork. Without proper footwork technique you will continue to have a lot of trouble. I suggest using the ankle bracelets everytime you train until your footwork is emaculate.

Move left and right, never go backwards unless you must. Remember the ring is small so if you go backwards a step your already against the ropes. Learn to use the entire ring and be aware of where you are in the ring and where your opponent is. Think of where you want to be and where you want your opponent to be. (control the pace, always be first to move and throw punches)

Learn how to use angles. Such as throwing a right cross and turning to the right side to get out of the way. (see Mayweather or Hopkins for examples of this) Angles are a boxers best friend. If you know how to use them it wont matter how small the ring is i recommend watching how Hopkins uses angles to stay clear of his opponents punches.

Stay on your toes. Use your jab to keep your opponent at bay or to back him up. If you find yourself by the ropes just remind yourself to spin out. If you havnt learned some of these techniques yet, watch how the greats do it and ask your trainer to teach you. Gluck

  6. Using angles is really good and relatively easy with a smaller opponent.

The uppercut when your opponent's on his way in is also a good move.

You can try to keep it on the outside using your jab and tie him up if he gets inside. Move laterally.

Alternatively you can blast your smaller opponent out, like George Foreman did to Joe Frazier, but you will need to work on developing your power for this.

  7. If you can't get him off you, make him back off with uppercuts then go back to the jab.

  8. Fight big and stay behind your jab, he will have no answer for a strong consistent jab

  9. Use your reach and use that jab constantly occasionally throw a straight right hand but mainly jab. if he gets you onto the ropes or corner, be physical and push him away, check him.
