  1. Though not at all a fan of Wagner products, they have evolved and improved somewhat, and answer two is correct in the thinning suggestion.

I'd agree with answer 1 about the pump sprayer, other than it isn't consistent, and in your case, could be a challenge, holding 12 pounds plus, on a ladder, painting high, and trying to maintain pump pressure at the same time.

In any case you will have to thin the stain, assuming it is thicker than latex, which I have often sprayed with a Wagner, and you may still have areas on T-111 where a brush might have to be used to CUT IN, or a foam roller. Certainly too, the process of application will be the same as with paint, masking windows, etc., using drops on plants, over concrete, etc. and keeping the nozzle clean throughout the job will matter.

    Just my two "sense"

Best also to do a test in an area not so conspicuous if possible, to judge pattern, volume, technique for even coverage, etc.

  2. Crickets answer is a good option...the sprayer is fairly inexpensive...around 20 bucks...but for a vertical surface somewhat wasteful...I don't know who told you not to use a Wagner...I have and it works well...the stain HAS to be thinned down somewhat but will work with the wagner.

You received two (what are they called...go inside the nozzle) one for paints and the other for stains. Its been a while ...but I think it's about 1/2 qt thinner to the gallon.

  3. You could use a hand pump sprayer. The kind you use to spray weed killer etc.
