  1. Don't worry, everything will be fine.  Be confident in yourself and talk to people so you can make new friends.  High school really isn't much different from jr. high.  And make sure to do all your homework and don't procrastinate or you'll fall behind.

  2. Hello!

I am a freshman too and I just started school today.

I was a little nervous, and I'm also shy, not to mention that I'm on crutches so maneuvering around crowds was a bit difficult, but everything turned out fine.

Here are some things you can do to ensure success and help calm your nerves:

-First, if you can, find a map of your school, that will help you find your way around. You'll probably get a map tomorrow, but to be on the safe side, check your school's website to see if they have it. (google the name of your school, most schools have a website) If there is one, print it out, but if not, don't panic. Schools almost always have a map posted on the wall somewhere, it's just easier if you have one of your own so you can find your way around easily.

-If, tomorrow, you get lost, remember: you're allowed to be late on the first day of school. No one's going to expect you to know your way around the school as a freshman on the first day. I got lost today, and it was fine. I had to ask a couple teachers, "Excuse me, but could you tell me where room ___ is? I'm a little lost..." and they were all very friendly and helped me find my way. Many of my friends got lost too, so, if you do, you won't be the only one, and it's nothing to worry about.

-Do you have any friends yet? If so, ask, "Hey, do you want to sit together at lunch?", or "Do you mind if I sit with you at lunch?" during homeroom or another time when you have a free moment. I did this this morning and I've learned that it really makes your day easier if you know a little thing like who you'll be sitting with at lunch. :) If you don't have a friend yet, look around for someone who seems nice or maybe even another new student, and ask them. I'm really shy, so I know it's a little scary to ask someone you don't know very well if you want to sit with them, but just ask in a polite way, ("Hey, do you want to sit with me at lunch today?") and if they say no, just nod and say, "Okay, that's fine!"

-If you can't find anyone to sit with beforehand, then you can always wait until lunch and look around until you find an empty chair, and then say, "Can I sit here?"

-Pack a cold lunch if you're not familiar with hot lunches. I'm always more comfortable to eat a lunch that I packed myself, because I know what I'm going to eat that day, and I don't have to wait in line or anything. If you choose to eat hot lunch, see if you can find a menu of what the food is beforehand so you can pick out what you want. Make sure they have something you'd like, and if you can't get a menu, then just pack a backup snack just in case. ;) I'm always about better safe than sorry!

-If you got a list of school supplies to buy, be sure you have everything on the list if you can! If you didn't get a list (we didn't get one at my school), just bring a couple sharpened pencils, a couple pens, a notebook, folder, and a backpack. That's what I brought for the first day and it worked out perfectly. You may also want to bring an agenda to write down your homework, but I wrote everything down in my notebook.

-Write down your locker combo and keep your schedule nearby and in a place where you won't lose it. I even made copies of my schedule to keep at home in case one of them gets lost!

-Take a deep breath, smile, wear comfortable clothes, be confident, and get ready for a fun four years ahead! :) Good luck, I'll be rooting for you!!

  3. hangout with friends. just take it easy.

  4. I'm a Senior finishing my last year starting tomorrow so I've been through this. Just stay calm, find your friends to hang out with, don't think your "above" the upper class men, don't cause trouble in class because there's nothing more annoying than a Freshman acting like a clown. Respect the teachers and do your work and finish it on time. This will save you from scrambling around trying to make-up your work and not fail your classes. Hope some of my "knowledge" can help you understand a bit. Good luck!

  5. it will be alright just find your classes and get on the teacher's good side and find people you know and like to surround yourself by
