I am hoping to develop a self esteem programme which will run over a number of weeks with a group of teenage girls aged around13-16. Could you suggest some ideas based on raising self esteem and confidence for some sessions that I can then plan??

  1. Make sure what you cover is applicable to their daily lives. They won't take anything away from it if they can't use it day to day.

  2. I am an ex youth worker of 14 years experience.

One suggestion is that each girl prepares notes and gives a talk on any subject of their choice to the rest of the group for say 3/5 minutes. The rest of the group should then each give a one sentence response (positive feedback only) This should hopefully do two things 1. give confidence to the group members re speaking in public 2.The individual comments should bolster that persons self esteem.  Good luck Alan

  3. you need to do prior research...possibly take a handful of youths and ask for their opinion....that will give you a basis and a start for you to develop your programme..... i'm a teennager..and i think this way is more effective---it shows you realyl are interested in people of our age...not just doing it for the sake of  doing it!.....

    wish you all the luck!
