She is reading at 6th grade level but I dont want her to be too far behind. Should a push to 7 year or start slow = she is doing 6/7 Saxon Math

  1. I would say to check out the curriculum at Ambleside Online - Charlotte Mason is more "year" based than "grade" based; AO has a free online curriculum for each year and will give you a better idea of what to start her with.

    Here's the link: http://amblesideonline.org/index2.shtml

  2. I don' t think you need to push. Have you read For the Children's Sake? What are you concerned about being too far behind? Maybe you can provide some more detailed information.

  3. You put her in each class according to her ability.  If she is doing Saxon 7/6, then leave her in that.  If she is reading novels at a higher level then put her in that level for Literature.  If her writing ability is lower then get a lower level writing program that uses dictation from easier books. Charlotte Mason worked according to ability with nature walks, good books, dictation, science notebooks from observations on walks, etc.  If your child knows no Latin then start with beginners Latin.  Just do what she can do at the level she is in each subject.
