  1. It is not likely that you would want stiff shafted clubs. They are primarily used by those who would swing much harder than a 55 year old beginner. A regular shafted set of clubs with more flex would almost always be recommeded.


  2. You should play the "whippiest" flex that you can control.

    In order to play a stiff flex, you will need a fast swing tempo and overall fast swing speed to be able to load and unload a stiff flex properly.

  3. It all depends on your swing speed. I just changed to stiff shafts last year and it's a big change. If you get stiff shafts before you are ready, you are going to start trying to swing a lot harder then you should, and this can cause all other aspects of your game to suffer. I would recommend regular shafts to start. I played with regular shafts for 8 years and shot some good numbers. Just because you have regular shafts doesn't mean you can't do certain things.

    Once you get playing a lot, and start to develop more skill and a higher swing speed, have your swing looked and see how comfortable you feel with a stiffer shaft.
