  1. Yes, for losing weight, you should count calories.

Pace yourself while running, even if you feel like you're going too slow, that just may be right for you.

For motivation, hum maybe find a friend who is looking to lose weight as well or runs on a regular basis and would like to run with you.

  2. Well, I did the same thing. I started a few months ago becuase my dream is to become a model. So that is what i am working towards. I found it very hard in the beginning to get myself going until i made it that daily habit. I would always put it off. I found the best way to actually do it, was to have a friend or person i care about tell me, "Ashley. Get your butt up and go running. Dont give me these excuses. GO!" and yes we got in a few fights but i always thanked them in the end. Also i found it SOOOO much easier to run with music. I just bought one of those ipod clip on shuffles and upload my most upbeat fun songs on them. It really keeps me going. Another tip, Start of slow. Start day 1 with one mile. DOnt be ashamed  to walk. then once you can run almost that whole mile, give it maybe 2-3 weeks, move up to a mile and a half, etc. Maybe start twice a day. Morning and night. Or tredmile and a run to the conor store. Mixing it up will keep you interested. There really isnt much more. good luck!!

  3. make sure your doctor approves...eat an apple before every dinner and only eat in your underwear or your bathing suit.  Believe me if you don't like the way you look in a bathing suit, then you might think twice before taking seconds.

  4. Well, first off, good for you!

    Heres some tips...

    1. Start slow, don't run too much at once at first.

    2. Set goals or mark on a calender, so you get into a routine.

    3. Be motivated. Remind yourself that it's worth it!

    4. Good running shoes definitely!

    5. Reward yourself with healthy but yummy meals like salads or chicken wraps!

    6. Drink lots of water!

    Hope that helped!

  5. Try running with friends, and keep a blog on your progress, with goals/accomplishments. And if you lose, say 5 lb., by yourself something.

It always makes me feel good.

    :D

  6. first of all make sure u dont push hard on ur self on ur first time! cuz that isint realy good for u. start up with a walk for 1 week you could run abit slow for another week so that your body could get used to it.when it does run if u run abit quick on the 1st time u could pull a muscle!

    GOoOd luCk! ^-^

  7. im not a fitness freak at all but my suggestions are get music in your ear and if you're outside and you're not running, walk, just constantly keep moving and have a good diet but dont ruin your fun, have a donut whenever you want, i hate the idea that people will have to eat salads forever.

  8. Stretch before and after everytime! It helps prevent injury, and it helps to keep you from cramping up when you run. Then you have to warm up with a walk or light jog before running. To burn more calories, you can walk/run with weights on your ankles or hold them in your hands but definitely ease into the routine.

  9. 1.well first off, pick a point u want to run to.

for example make a goal of running a lap around ur neighborhood the first day, and then gradually add more distance if u want to, or u can keep a constant distant each day. (but dont start off too hard on the first day)

    2. also, drinking water is important, so u dont get dehydrated.

keep a water bottle in handy at all times. (drink before, after, and take sips in between)

3.music is a great motivation while running, especially ones with a nice beat. this keeps u at a constant pace, and music is just better than hearing ur own panting breath

but you might want to keep one side of ur ear open, incase of incoming bikeriders, cars, etc.

if ur more of the peace and quiet type of person, then u probably dont need the music

    4. never come to a complete stop (unless ofcourse ur crossing a street and look both ways) if u feel tired, just slow down to  walk or a slower jog. (but if u feel like ur going to pass out, by all means, take a rest.), but if u want to feel more motivated, pump ur arms more, so you dont stop

    5.  stretching after jogs are good. they make muscles more flexible, and prevent cramps and shin splints!

and most of all dont think of it as work, think of it as a leisurely relaxing time to reflect or just have fun.

  10. commit a crime then run from the scene that's all the motivation i need

  11. 3 words sister: consitency consistency, consistency (try saying that one 5 times fast) also, keep a calander so you can look back on all the days youve worked hard

  12. Always stretch and do some aerobics or some light exercise of some sort before running. Bring something with you, like a music player to help you relax and just keep running.

If you focus on the music, running will be a bit easier. Make sure the weather is good, too. Eat your veggies and V8 juice is great! (If you don't like the original, they have awesome V8 splash--it's yummy!)

Take a friend along with you, it will be more fun and you can talk to them and stay fit, too!

It takes a lot of time and patience with exercising. Hang in there, and don't let a rainy day stop you from exercising! You can work out indoors, or you can go to a gym.

Drink plenty of water. A Gatorade now and then is good too, but water is better after a workout. While running, take a break every now and again so you don't strain your body.

    Good luck! Keep at it!

    :)

  13. For running, music helps alot. Like a CD Player, Mp3, or ipod. Also, dont run, jog, thats helps you run for a longer time.

  14. -make a good music playlist to motivate you

-start with short distances and get longer as you start getting in shape

-jog outside in a scenic area so you don't get bored

-reward yourself with something after jogs (not junk food obvi)

-don't count calories, eat small meals more often filled with protein and butrients so you feel fuller longer

    -drink lots of water!

-have fun, don't make your workouts all about losing weight..do it for yourself, and mix things up

-go to MapMyRun.com so you can make a joggin loop for yourself and know exactly how far youve gone

    Good Luck!

  15. yes

ok when u run pick a point far away and focus on it and try not to bob up and down it wastes energy motivation could be thinking about how good you will look later

    good luck day

  16. i suggest that you start walking first with light weights.  If your overweight and you start running right away, you'll ruin your knees and you'll be out of breath and you'll end up quitting.  When you start feeling comfortable and ready to push yourself...try speedwalking...combine w. a good healthy diet, you'll lose 3-4lbs in a wk.

  17. make sure you have a great pair of "heavy" shoes.  Otherwise you're just going to blow your feet and knees out.

  18. A lot of runners get discouraged when they first start out running when they realize that they aren't able to go as far or as fast as they thought they would be able to.  The key is to stick with it and don't over-exert yourself-- it's really easy to get injured if you're pushing yourself too much.  Lots of runners like to start off on a walk/run program (i.e. walking 2 minutes, running 1 and building up from there).  It's a good way to build up your endurance and not kill yourself in the first couple of months.

Also, the most important tool that can make or break you is your shoes.  You might be tempted to pick up any old pair that are on sale, but trust me, you wanna get a quality pair of shoes that's going to offer you the right support-- they will save you a LOT of pain and suffering.  The good quality ones tend to be more expensive, but they are a wonderful, and necessary, investment.

Kudos to you for running!  Good luck!
