Good luck getting your Visa extended.  When my daughter and I went to India, we stayed for a year and wanted to get it extended for my daughter since I was able to get my PIO card and no longer needed a visa.

The only thing we could do was come back home and request another visa because extensions and/or change of tourist type visas were available from the Indian consulates in our home country.
