  1. I think one of the best things you can do for the world and yourself is learn how to garden. Of course then you have to learn how to cook and preserve the food you grow. I think it will benifit any young person to study sustainable ecology in school, or, where ever you can... and apply what you learn about that subject to your life. Now is the time for young people to learn old skills that most families have forgotten, canning, butchering, preserving, making jellies, fruit leathers, cheese, bread and so on. Study animal husbandry also, soil needs fertilizer to be rich and productive, and animals provide a lot of it. If you don't eat meat, thats OK, it is not nessesary to eat animals in order to receive food from them. Remember dairy goats, sheep, cows, and water buffalo are glad to give us their milk, and the larger animals can do farm work as well, also ducks and chickens lay lots of eggs. Another thing you can do is learn to eat less,  people in developed countries eat more than they need. Another thing is to begin walking more, or riding a bike. If you have a good strong set of leg muscles, walking a few miles seems like nothing. The last thing I would suggest is to plan on moving to the country, and growing food in a sustainble way to help provide for hungry people in the future, too many young people have left the country for city life... that is why farms are often lacking in inovative thinking, lack of fresh blood, lack of new ideas, new energy. Old farmers get stuck in their old ways of doing things too, and it really helps when some young fella (or gal) comes along and says, well why don't ya try it this new way? Makes us old farmers examine our practises, and that is always a good thing.

  2. Reduce, Re-use, Recycle.  I'm really not trying to be funny but this song reminds me that conservation is something I should encourage my child to do, therefore I should be doing it too.  We recycle cardboard, paper, plastics, glass, etc. through our city's recycling program.

  3. Recycle: paper, plastics, glass, anything that the recycling center near you accepts

Conserve: water (take faster showers, etc), energy (turn off lights in unused rooms, etc) fuel (walk if you can, carpool, take public transportation, etc)

Reuse items: plastic containers (like the cool whip container) from food packages can be reused to store knick knacks, don't throw left overs in trash (it can be reused as compost for your garden) plus it's organic fertilizer!

Change your regular light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs; very cost efficient and saves a ton of energy!

These are just some of the little earth-friendly-everybody-can-do-it tasks that i can come up with.  You can find more online (because everything is online)

Now go and do your part in saving the Earth! :D

  4. Get jobs and contribute to the creation of wealth.  Wealthy countries have the most sound environmental pracitices.

  5. Right now you are at the right age to start...1st try being a minimalist..meaning try challenging your friends to living off little rather than large..dont waste food, dont waste water, and use reusable and/or recycled materials...this may sound a lil sqweggie manish(that's the deralict that tries to wash your car window with dirty water and/or pee and expects money, usually found at cross sections, highways, or ramps with traffic lights leading to parkways in major cities ) but recycle your aluminum cans and stop using paper bags unless it recycled and refuse plastic bags they dont break down..hopefully that's helpful

  6. recycle.

turn the water off while brushing your teeth.

turn lights and electronics off when you leave a room

unplug unnecessary gadgets, like VCRs or nightlights

    try to take shorter showers

open windows on nice days instead of using A/C

  7. Support education on limiting the population growth. Study and get the facts on ways to conserve the environment and reduce pollution. Never believe what you are told in the media, by Hollywood, salesman, or ANY politician. They all have bias and LIE!

  8. Don't have children. You would create another human with needs and so having an even bigger negative impact on the environment.
