  1. you could just avoid them - go to places that dont have them

  2. When you feel the urge to go gamble, try to go  do something else. Like bowling or the movies. Go to the gym. They have 24 hr gyms and that exert your energy elsewhere..... Stay busy. Join a support group. Get some friends to help you too. Someone you can call and talk to when you feel the urge to gamble and that can help keep you away.

Good luck to you and Take Care!

  3. no. just gamble

  4. why struggle man? its fun and you can earn some big money.please read an interesting article and then visit slotstop.com and start having fun..

  5. Don't go to pubs. Don't drink (weakens resolve).

Don't carry large sums of money around, and leave all your finances with someone trustworthy (spouse perhaps?), and they can control it for you.

My dad had a pokie habit as well (still does, just not as badly now), and I know it definitely helped when mum had control of all the finances. (although my dad is a real weirdo and goes crazy all the time)

  6. Other than will power?

Come on. Do you really want to watch your money disappear?

    Isn't reality enough for you?

  7. Stay out of casinos or bars that have slot machines in them.  Dont even go close to one.  It might be something of a struggle at first, but you'll get more and more used to it as time goes on.  But you really need to keep yourself as far from them as possible, when you go in someplace that has them, then you are much closer to relapsing then if you can just stay away altogether.

  8. Have you tried barring yourself from there

  9. Download a free casino that has slot machines. Play the free slots, and you will soon see that it is truly boring and eventually you will become bored with it all. Just don't deposit and money. If you have a local Wal-Mart or large retailer in your area there are several casino games that you can buy and will never have the option to deposit. There are GA meetings you can attend as well as medication that may be prescribed that will curb the urge to gamble. Hypnosis may or may not be helpful but it may be worth checking out. I live In Oklahoma where we have as many casinos as we have churches so I understand where you are coming from, I was spending 1200 a week some weeks. I decided to take the money that I was spending in the casino and purchase something tangible like lawn furniture, a big screen TV and things like that. I do have to admit I found myself back in the casino and still go today, but I have started a successful poker career but that's another story. I hope this has helped you.

  10. Only play penny slots.  That way you can play all day for a few bucks.

  11. 1st-Don't go to them or around them

2nd- make a list of all the things you can do with your money you will save from not gambling.

  12. Get involved in a new hobby. Get some fun computer games or a Playstation. Get into sports or hiking or something. Just find something that you might enjoy to take up your time.

  13. get urself arrested, that will stop u from any addictive habit.

  14. i work at a casino. the best thing is to go  there have fun. if u lose money thats the risk. if u win goody. if it is pressureing walk away. or stop gambling. find something else to do which interests u.

  15. Slots is a no brainer game. Why no try real skill game like Texas Hold'em.

At the very least it will make you think about what you are doing.

  16. psychiatry!!! seriously..

  17. Aversion therapy...they'll hypnotize you into believing that (for instance) slot machines have teeth!

  18. XBOX360. you will become obsessed.

  19. There's the nuclear option:

    The state's self-exclusion list.

Some states have a "self-exclusion" list, where you do a 5-10 minute interview with a counselor, fill out paperwork, and your name, info, and picture are sent to all the casinos in the state.

If you step foot on the casino floor, you will get arrested for trespassing, and if you try to collect a jackpot, the money will go to charity, not you.

It's not a perfect solution, because they can't bar you from playing the state lottery, but it's a big step in the right direction.

One catch, I call it the nuclear option, because it is a "barred-for-life" list.  In fact, in Missouri, it specifically says in the state law that putting yourself on the list cannot be undone by anybody, including yourself.
