  1. There is a whole range of RPM settings for a given Manifold Pressure setting, to allow for a variety of situations.  You have missed something, and you need to go over this with your instructor.

  3. There are many RPM settings for manifold pressure - as the lady before me has already said.

    You need to understand that RPM is set by propellor pitch angle (the blue levers) and manifold pressure (MP) or "boost" is set by the throttles.

    So they can be set separately - but RPM can affect MP, too - if you increase RPM, it tends to lower MP (the same pressure is being drawn into the engine faster)...

    Likewise, lowering RPM can increase MP - as it backs up, so to speak - be careful of that.

    I think too that you need to talk to your instructor - and understand the differences and applications of the two, then worry about the numbers :-)
