I am studying conservation biology and my husband owns a construction company....?

...is there anything wrong with this picture? What are your thoughts/feelings?

Construction doesn't necessarily have to be incompatible with conservation.  Buidings can be built in a manner to do the least environmental damage possible.  You could use what you learn to reduce the environmental impact of your husband's work.

Not at all. As Dana said there is a lot of ways where you can combine environmentalism and buildings/constructions. There are new technologies, even old technologies, that makes houses more environmentally friendly. It is my belief that these houses will be more sought after in the future, not just to be environmentally friendly, but because they will have less energy consumption in them. This is just one example but I think there is a whole new sector in this field and it will be explored. I think you are, together with your husband, in a good position to use this to your advantage, in several ways.

Most constuction companies have to hire biologists to survey areas before constuction on them starts....also biologists monitor entire construction projects in areas where there is sensitive wildlife or plants to make sure crews are not destroying anything they should not. Maybe you can personally make sure your husband's company is doing everything by the book!

I think it depends on what kind of construction he does.  If he tries to build buildings that are more efficient and environmentally friendly then I see no problem.  If he is destroying wetlands to build super Wal-marts then you might have a conflict.  If this is true you could talk to him, tell him what you are learning, and try to persuade him to get out of the Wal-mart gig.  He would not have to give up his company, he would simply seek out "greener" projects.  It is my impression that this kind of work is expanding anyway.

if you give him some useful information about environmental protection, such as: energy saving, alternative sources of energy-electricity generation, ecosystems for city communities, etc. his clients could apreciate it

environmental protection can be a business

some global construction companies are environmental-friendly and make really huge business (if you want examples, message me privately and i can give you examples in Europe)
