Question:

I am suffering because I am too skinny.?

Hey there.

I am 16 years old and I am too skinny. I go to the gym 3 times a week and do proper resistance training with my rugby coach. I need to put on about 5 -10kg but the problem is I can't put this weight on through resistance training. I am the skinniest by far on my rugby team. Also I eat more than all my friends and I push myself everyday to eat more than before. but never get results. (I am eating correct foods).

So can anybody help me, are there supplements that help you gain water weight and not muscle? or anything at all!!!

  1. I used to be exactly as you are now.  (When you hit about 30 to 35, it will all change gal!)

    But when I was your age, I found it easy to put on weight when I started drinking liquid supplements like Ensure with a meal or in between meals.  And now you have alot more options than I did....there are more products (Boost, etc), and more options as far as flavor goes (fruit and not just dairy drinks).  

    It's so easy to do - and it will put on the weight.  The real key is diligence - every day, and at least 2 of the 3 meals.  

    You can also drink these in between meals or with a snack, but you don't have to drink it until you gag or anything....1 or 2 a day will make a difference!

  2. A healthy body will retain as much water as it needs, so trying to gain water weight probably won't work and you could end up hurting yourself by diluting you blood salts too much.  Too put on mass you should be lifting higher weight and doing fewer reps, and eating a high protein diet.
