I was told by someone at IRS that it could take 6 to 8 weeks. It has been 5 months. Of course no one at child support knows ANYTHING or how to find out. Does anyone out there know anything about this or been through it, or a number where a live person answers?? help

  1. you'll most likely get it next month or early october at the latest.i got my ex's regular return in april which was taken in march,in one month i had it in my account.i got his rebate today in my account b/c he still owed,it was taken on july 11th and i got it august 12th.

he's not married,if your ex is married, yes they'll hold it for 6 months to give the spouse time to file a injured spouse claim form 8379.

    good luck!

  2. my dad hasnt gotten his yet and they said to give it one more month, they got behind

  3. The IRS does not send the offset money to the state or county collecting the child support for at least six months from the date of the return.  This is done to allow for any appeals or amendments to occur.  You might want to involve the press regarding the performance or lack thereof on the part of the local Child Support folks.

  4. Whoever said 6-8 weeks was very optimistic.  It can take 6 months or so if your ex has remarried, to give his spouse time to file an injured spouse form.  Then it can take several weeks after that for the money to work it's way thru the system to get to you.

    Good luck.
