  1. You can eat and drink as normal (moderation) till 9PM and after only water.

The reason is they want all you have consumed to be metabolized. This ensure the tests are accurate. If you eat and/or drink after 9PM chances are it will still be coursing through your system and give miss-leading test results.

    Water is of no consequence.

  2. Yes, the alcohol should show up........If you might have heart problems, WHY would you be drinking alcohol anyways?   Can't you just wait a few days to see what your doctor says?

  3. Used to draw blood.. Usually I told my patients not to have anything after midnight. The water helps rehidrate your veins so there not hard to find. No the test will not show you drank alcohol

  4. what directions did your doctor give you?

  5. If there is something wrong with your heart, then you shouldn't drink alcohol.

Only a blood test for alcohol will find alcohol in your blood.  If that's not what they're testing for, then there is no way they would know if you drank or not.  Well, except for your bloodshot eyes, stinky breath and the bags under your eyes.

If you follow the instructions: no food or drink after nine, all will be well.  Even if you take your last sip of whatever at 8:59, you will still be following directions.

  6. If the instructions say don't eat or drink after 9 p.m. then I have to assume that eating or drinking up till then is permissible.  But if you really are concerned...don't do it..simple as that.

  7. Your blood is a 'chemistry set'.  There are many many different test that can be performed on you.  If the 'doc' is concerned about your heart he is not going to order and 'ethyl alcohol test'.  Number one, if your insured, it is illegal.  He would be ordering frivolous test and the insurance company would not pay it.  They are not cheap.  Many test are from $150 to $350 and up.

Your doctor is a detective.  He will order test to help him deduce what your symptoms may be telling him.  I predict he will order a general chemistry profile, which tells him things like your electrolytes , liver function etc.  CBC which stands for a complete blood count.. this could signify infections , anemia etc.   and probably an cardiac enzyme profile.. which, of course tells him about your heart.

    Don't worry about drinking..

  8. Depending how much you drink, the alcohol can remain in your system for up to 24 hours, perhaps even more! If you are in any doubt, don't risk it.

One night without booze wont kill you, a heart condition might!

  9. If you are in fear of heart issues why is drinking alcohol on this night so important?

Is your health not more important?

Come on one night You can do it. Especially when it is your health that is involved.
